Dean357 Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 (edited) Hi guys Couple of questions if you don't mind. I have a 2003 C5 2.0 Exclusive 1. Do these cars come with HID headlights or has a previous owner done a DIY job? 2. How do I know if I have the 90 or 110bhp engine? 3. Tyre pressure sensors - It looks like I only have two of these on the car and then two normal valves, I get a message coming up saying something like "4 tyre pressure sensors missing", will this fail an MOT or can I just leave it as is and not worry about it? Thanks. :) Edited February 6, 2015 by Dean357 Quote
Johndouglas Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Difficult to give an answer about the xenons. Some years they were standard on the exclusive models - other years they were an option. On the current exclusives I think they are an expensive option. To decide whether you have a 90BHP or a 110BHP. Look at the VIN. If you have the sequence RHY then yours is a 90BHP. If the sequence is RHZ then its a 110. If the MOT guy sees the message, there's a good chance that he'll fail it. The system can be disabled through Lexia (I think) then maybe as well to get rid of the other two. Quote
paul.h Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 The MOT testers manual can be seen on-line on one of the gov.uk sites. The latest one with updates is always shown but it may still show the date of the last complete issue. On the tyre pressure monitoring it looks as if it will not be checked on your car since it gives: The inspection of the tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) only applies to passenger vehicles with: · four or more wheels, and · not more than 8 passenger seats excluding the driver’s seat, and · first used on or after 1 January 2012 The check does not apply to quadricycles. http://www.motinfo.gov.uk/htdocs/m4s04000106.htm In a 2003 Citroen C5 brochure it lists the 90 hp 2.0 hdi only for the LX model so it is unlikely to be in the VTR and exclusive ones - let us know what you find when you check your VIN (can be seen at the bottom of the windscreen passenger side from the outside as well as the V5C and Ciroen Maintenance and Warranty guide). Xenon headlights and washers are listed as standard for the exclusive in this brochure. If you have a diy job then possibly the washers that pop out of the front bumper could be missing but these are needed for the MOT. You could also check the Characteristics (left column) for your car using your VIN (VIS) which will list the types of lights it was supplied with (also will give engine) on the Citroen parts diagrams. These can be seen as a free service if you register as another professional and a member of the Citroen Owners Club on the service.citroen site http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres Quote
Dean357 Posted February 7, 2015 Author Posted February 7, 2015 (edited) Thanks for the help guys. Checked my VIN number and it has RHZ in it so it's the 110bhp version. I also checked the characterisitcs and it says I have Disharge Lamps, which I assume refers to HID lamps? I also have the headlight washers as I tested them the other night. Thanks for the advice. One more question ;) If I reset the BSI, will it also delete a remap (if it has been done)? Edited February 7, 2015 by Dean357 Quote
Johndouglas Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 No - the only way you can undo a remap is to have the ECU amended. If you are going to reset the BSI make sure you follow the correct procedure. It's in the common problems section if you are not familiar with it Quote
