Hi

I have just purchased a C Crosser yet it only had installed the basic radio and CD unit. Does anybody know how difficult it will be to install the Sat Nav unit from a C Crosser Sat Nav unit from a breakers yard.

Remove the two vents either side of the radio unit, this will expose 4 or more screws. Remove these and the radio unit should slide out. As for fitting the sat nav unit, I can't say for sure if it is plug or play or may require intervention from a Citroen Dealer.

It may not be too easy to just swap the radio units.  Before buying one, make sure the connectors on the back are identical since the various radios have different ones. Also the radio aerial parts/wiring are different if you have a sat nav so this will all need to be changed. If you find a donor vehicle, it would be best to remove all the wiring to the radio, obtain the aerial, its base and the wiring and connector boxes between the aerial and radio. It is also possible a rear window may have a built in aerial so look for any elements on them as found on the back window heater. If you need to get all these and the radio from a dealer expect to pay in excess of £1000. Once installed it may need to be set up by the dealer using their diagnostic equipment and they would be able to install the latest maps.

Beware that Citroen sat navs do not let you find somewhere using post codes, you need to input the address, starting with the town, then the street. If you want to use coordinates these are not OS grid references but latitude/longitude.

Nearly forgot, Citroen radios are linked to the original cars so they can not be used on another one - so check at a dealer that they can reprogram one from another car - you probably will need documentation to show it was not stolen.

Thanks for info to date, I have also considered the koolertron after market sat nav. Has anybody got any advice re how easy to install and sync with steering wheel controls etc.

Seen for price between £249 and £380 that although look same I think some are wifi etc whilst others more basic.

It is really hard to say how you would sync it with steering controls. Not being a genuine Citroen part, one cannot say how it will operate.

it is sort of plug n play. better described as a plug n lexia session, It will need to be vin coded into your car as paul said. but as yours has the can bus system it will need boxes ticking in the ecu. the steering wheel controls can be used if you get some crossover leads ( if there needed but i doubt it) from most auto electrics or the dealer.

But as paul and porsche have said a tom tom is a much cheaper and better option

Wanted for DVD etc as well but may not bother due to difficulties being claimed. Car did not come with manual so could you tell me if the 2008 model C Crosser is Bluetooth and hands free for phone syncing please.
