Drummer1 Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 (edited) 2007 C5 Exclusive Sorry dunno where Cng sensors came from in the title. I meant to say C5 parking sensors. Parking sensors working fine....until last week. I drove into a diy car wash and when I came out they weren't working. That may just be a coincidence with no connection whatsoever but now I have a message on the display that says they're faulty. No buzzers, no nothing. Any ideas what the fault could be? Parkesie Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Mine throw up a fault if the tow bar cover isnt perfectly straight or ive got a glob of wax covering one. Quote
Porsche430 Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Would be strange if no fault was coming onto the dash or when reverse is engaged. On C5's, the parking censors at the rear are especially exposed to the elements on the inside of the bumper, even worse if they are aftermarket parking sensors. I think your first step is to check the security of all connections to the parking sensors by squeezing yourself under the rear bumper. If you don't fancy that, either have your Citroen dealer carry out a diagnostic session or at least carry one out yourself. Usually, it's more likely to secure a first time fix from a dealer as using official Citroen technology, they can view live information regarding the parking sensors when driving. May seem like a strange question, but do your reverse lights work? Quote
paul.h Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Beware if you use a Chinese Lexia copy since others have reported using these to check the parking sensors can cause a programming fault needing the sensor program to be re-installed. Maybe there could be water in a sensor that might blow out or one of the sensors has been moved and its connector disturbed. Could be a front one or a rear one if you have both. I have edited the topic title so it makes sense. Quote
Drummer1 Posted February 9, 2015 Author Posted February 9, 2015 (edited) Yes reversing lights work fine. The sensors don't work on the front or rear.Talking about wax Parkesie, I did use the gloss wax finish on the car wash.Just spent 5 mins washing them with fairy liquid, rinsing and drying but still not working :( Edited February 9, 2015 by Drummer1 Quote
Porsche430 Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Another question! Does your rear wiper activate when you place into reverse if the front wipers are on? I'm thinking your reverse switch may be faulty... but if reverse lights work would suggest it's okay. Maybe also a bad earth somewhere but I don't have any wiring diagrams for C5's. Quote
coastline taxis Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 try blowing the reverse sensors out with a airline Quote
seefive Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 My sensors refused to work after I had autodab radio adaptor installed at a main dealer. The job involved putting a power patch lead in at the fusebox, and the sensors didn't come live again afterwards. A quick trip to the dealer fixed it. Although the config screen told me they were active, they weren't. Quote
citrophile Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 If none of the sensors front or back are working then I would suspect a control issue rather than water in the sensors. Not sure if the control box might have got a soaking, I'm afraid I have no idea where it might be located. On the lexia issue, this relates to the front sensors software getting corrupted when you try and diagnose them. The solution is to actually use the Peugeot software for the 405/406 as essentially they are the same mechanicals and electrics as the C5. I did this on mine and they were then fine. All other functions are fine with lexia..!!!! Quote
