ghostms Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 hi i bought this car with many problems, which one of them being this one.. antipollution fault. i went to one mechanic and he told that it is catalizer converter (sorry if i spell it badly) and he said it needs to be replaced. then i went to another mechanic to sort out air con problems and he checked the errors with lexus and he said its similar problem but it might only need the liquid to be filled in the CC or where ever it goes. reason being why i dont think it is totally bad is that i passed mot with it with no problem co2 was minimum (tho the car is on limp home mode) and no black smoke coming out of the exaust, and the light in the dash is coming on and off... what can be the solution? paul.h Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 Looking at your previous posts, the car is a 2.2 hdi 136 bhp engine so it will have an exhaust dpf with eolys fluid as well as a catalyst. How many miles has the car done ? Can you provide the fault codes to help with diagnosing the fault since the anti pollution message on its own just means an engine sensor has detected a fault that could result in high exhaust emissions. This could include a sensor fault or as you suggest a catalyst fault or a dpf fault. On your engine there is also a common fault where the swirl flap actuator plastic ball joint cup breaks - this can be found at the gearbox end of the cylinder head - a new part is about £20. If the dpf eolys fluid has run out you ought to get a low level message and if the dpf has blocked, possibly a diesel filter blocked message. Also check the inlet of the end of the exhaust pipe - is this clean metal or covered in soot - if sooty it could suggest the dpf has been removed or drilled through. If you have a code reader that does live data then you should be able to read the code and if it is a catalyst fault check the inlet and outlet lambda sensors - the inlet one should switch frequently and the outlet one stay steady if the catalyst is ok but if the cat is faulty the outlet one will switch similar to the inlet one. ghostms Posted May 8, 2015 Author Posted May 8, 2015 it has 230000kmand i dont have the reader so i can only say what the mechanics tell me, and here in spain they are very bad for them its jsut change everything for the most expensive parts Quote
paul.h Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 It could pay you to buy a code reader. One with live data can be bought for £40 such as this one from Gendan and I would think they will post to Spain https://www.gendan.co.uk/product_FXNT200.html On their website it says to email them for a price delivered outside of the UK. ghostms Posted May 26, 2015 Author Posted May 26, 2015 back again with the same problem or more.. the mechanic put in the liquid and cleaned the catalyzer converter, but few days later all these error came up:http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y174/Ghost_Ridah/2015-05-26_18-27-58_101.jpgcan someone help me to specify the problem...please Quote
Johndouglas Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Has the Eolys fluid been refilled recently and was the ecu reset? Quote
ghostms Posted May 26, 2015 Author Posted May 26, 2015 yes it was done last Wednesday and i had no problems until Saturday, then the light and the anti pollution fault came back and did not disappear the whole weekend. and since yesterday i have no light again and no anti pollution warning. tho i took it to the mechanic anyways and he did the check only to show me all these errors. tomorrow i do this http://citroen.mforos.com/1257918/10589942-brico-anomalia-anticontaminacion/cleaning the air intake peace, not that i know that it is the problem, but it wont hurt to do it Quote
paul.h Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 I do not know if the fault code reader being used is a Citroen specific one (Lexia) and if not it could be possible the fault code definitions are not correct. In this case it may be better to use a Citroen dealer to read the fault codes. If the codes are the P1435, etc ones, on here in the Petrol, Diesel and LPG Injection section that givesP1435 A/C Refrigerant Temperature Circuit Range/PerformanceP1446 Evaporative Vac Solenoid Circuit MalfunctionP1448 ELC System 2 FaultP1425 EGI Glow Plug Secondary FailureP1442 Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected Quote
