DeanPesticcio Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Hi. I have a C5 VTR PLUS NAV HDI (2010). Air-con wasn’t working so I had it filled up about 6 weeks ago. When it was being filled I was told that ‘it held a vacuum, so it looks good’ and it did work very well when I tested it on the way home, the screen iced up etc.The weather’s getting warmer now and to my dismay it’s not working.. I questioned myself that I was not activating it properly: press A/C, the green light comes on, and turn both heat control knobs to LO, pretty sure that’s it, isn't it? I think the garage that filled it added the infer-red dye, and I have a lamp so I can have a look. I’m just posting encase there any common weak spots that are worth looking at and if anyone has had air-con problems, might be able to give me a heads up.. Quote
coastline taxis Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 its a common fault on c5,s for the stepper motors that control the heater flaps to break. keep aircon switched off and see if when you turn both temperature controls that the heating goes from hot to cold. if it does then its your aaircon if it dosnt then start checking the heater motors Quote
paul.h Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 The cabin fan also needs to be running for the air con to work and the engine fan will switch on and off. When the air con is switched on the compressor clutch will be heard to click if it is working - if so then the heater flaps need looking at as coastline has posted. The dye used is a UV dye so would not be seen using an infra red light but needs a UV light. Quote
