C 5 Estate Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 The tailgate window on my April 2006 C5 Estate has not opened, as in catch does not respond to my squeezing the button on the rear wiper housing, since I bought the motor a couple of years ago. Recently the catch is unlatching without being asked, In an effort to keep it closed I tried disconnecting the wires which appear to connect to the button but this causes the central locking the think a door is open. I will be more than happy if the tailgate window does not lift and stays closed as this will probably be the least expensive option. All help/suggestions will be most gratefully received. paul.h Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 This is from the C5 Common Problems pinned topic42. Estate tailgate window does not open. This topic contains a fix for this and also Citroen can supply a repair kit for about £15, part no. 653898. http://www.citroen-o...te-rear-screen/ Quote
Johndouglas Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 When my 2005 model started doing the same I took the panel of the inside of the rear tailgate and disconnected the solenoid. Quote
paul.h Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 Out of interest, does anyone use the opening rear window ? Only time I have done was to replace the high level brake light. If I remember, later I will move this topic to the C5 section and include it in the Common Problems topic. Quote
C 5 Estate Posted May 14, 2015 Author Posted May 14, 2015 Disconnecting the wire as shown in the second picture in my original post was not the reason the central locking didn't stay locked, it was due to my not having replaced the plastic cover, which causes the protruding button to close. The solenoid electrical connection didn't want to come apart so I took the metal rod link between the solenoid and the catch. Currently the window is staying closed, I will give it a couple of weeks to assure my self the catch stays closed then decide about making the window work as I can see it will be very convenient when ladders are on the roof rack.
