Edna cloud Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 (edited) Hi I bought a 4 year old c4 from a reputable dealer, 19k on clock, old mot matched new one. A month later halfords fitted a stereo and my air con and fan stopped working. They did a fix through autocentre fixed heater panel and replaced all fuses and control unit, removed the new stereo and put the factory stereo back in. It seemed fine till i noticed the mileage logged for car at end of job was 133k. Halfords are making me take the car to a Citroen dealer for a full diagnostic but the dealer warns me it will likely come back clear as other then dodgy odometer reading everything is working since it was repaired. Does anyone know how to get a true mileage for the car- so I can ask Halfords to do this? I know zero about cars and I still owe money on a car that now has dodgy mileage, and is worth squat... coastline taxis Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 most Citroen mileage is stored in the ecu. your model is the canbus diagnostic and you just cant go adding aftermarket equipment with telling the ecu. my advice would be to wait and see what the diagnostic says. if all comes back ok then its down to Halfords to sort it out. Any mileage correction firm should be able to sort it out at Halfords cost Quote
paul.h Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 If Halfords replaced the speedo or ecu, the car will have adopted the mileage of the higher of the one already on the car or that of the replacement part if it was a used item. So possibly Halfords have messed something up or used a part from a different car which was on 133k miles. It is normal for a garage to note the mileage of a car when doing any work and will include this on the receipts - so you may already have this info unless Halfords noted the mileage after they messed up.
