Tonyinspain 29 Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 please can anyone help me I have been a member for 1 year and I have gained a lot of information with the help of other members.my problem is on my 2005 2ltr Hdi it comes up with fault code P1598$ I have searched high and low on the internet and can not find this code, the car performs very well but every now and then the throttle sticks down it has been in and out of a Citroen dealer and they can not find anything wrong so in desperation my friend connected his scanner and came up with this fault code but doesn't know what it represents, hoping someone can help Tony Quote
paul.h Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Welcome to the forum. You may need to use a Citroen specific code reader since as you point out P1598 does not appear anywhere. However, since the throttle, presumably you mean accelerator pedal, is sticking down then may be the internals are broken and it needs replacing - or see if there are any carpets or mats that it catches on (remove them and see if the fault goes). The pedal may be part no. 1601N6 (check using your VIN) and is £90.65 from citroencarparts.net. It is held by a bolt and 2 nuts plus an electrical connector so would only take a few minutes to replace. Quote
coastline taxis Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Check the cable from the pedal to the throttle pot and also for signs of anything fouling the throttle pot Quote
Tonyinspain 29 Posted June 22, 2015 Author Posted June 22, 2015 thanks guys suggestions have already been checked by Citroens themselves in fact the accelerator pedal was replaced by Citroens (the first thing they went for) since then it has been in 9 times and cost me over £450 so far and still has the same fault so as you can imagine my wallet and nerves won't stand much more. Any other ideas would be appreciatedTony Quote
paul.h Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Is it the pedal that sticks down and does not come back up when taking your foot off it or have I misread your first post ? Quote
