Hi all

This is my first post, i have got a citroen c3 1.4 connection model. For the last couple of months there has been a whining noise, which Citroen dealer has told me i need a new turbo (and after the £50 for them to check it out) anyway one of my dads mates has said there could be a blocked oil pipe gong to the turbo, so does any one know where that is and how to remove it.

Thanks

Thanks for your reply but I have taken the car to citroend dealer paid them 50quid for them to check it over told me there was a problem with one of the veins in the turbo hence the whining noise. But some one else has said to check to see if the oil pipe is blocked staving the turbo of oil

If one of the turbo impeller vanes is damaged then maybe it could make the noise. You could remove the turbo inlet and have a look for any damage.

Lack of oil flow is probably not the problem since if this happened for a short time (never mind several months) the bearings would rapidly wear and the turbo could destroy itself. The initial symptoms of worn bearings could be a smokey exhaust on starting and when accelerating but when it got bad the car would be surrounded by smoke from the exhaust - based on my experience on a petrol car when the turbo failed.

Have a look at the turbo for any damage to the vanes.

If you can hear the noise with the car parked, look under the bonnet and check if it seems to be coming from the turbo or a leaking gasket/pipe that is leaking air in or out.
