Hi all

Have just got hold of a 2009 C4 1.6 VTi 5 door in metallic black.

Pick the car up next Saturday and can't wait. Car has only done 33k and 1 previous owner.

Thought I would join the forum to get help and advice and share my ownership experiences and any work I carry out.

Will be my second Citroen as previously have owned a 2004 C2 GT in Red.

Have been brought up on a diet of Citroen's though as my Dad has owned.....a GS, GSA, 2 BX's, 2 Xantia's and a C4, brother owned a ZX volcane which was his pride and joy for many years and he still regrets selling it.

My first weekend job as a teenager was at a Citroen dealership detailing the cars for the showroom.

So now I come to think about it...is surprising with that background including my new C4 I have only owned 2 Citroen's out of the 25 cars I have so far owned!  :D

I would give the engine a good check over when you get it, they may be prone to oil leaks and can use oil. Our 2010 C3 is on about 28k miles and has the 1.4 vti engine and the oil use varies but can be 1 litre in 2000 miles. It had an oil leak where the wiring for a solenoid to do with the oil pump enters the engine at the back and this was fixed under the warranty. There are also signs it may be weaping a bit of oil from the rear or side near the top at the timing chain end - it is hidden by attachments but a common leak point can be the timing chain tensioner. Internet searches on the vti engine come up with a few things on leaks and oil use.

Many thanks for the welcome and the points to check. The car belonged to my Dad from brand new so I know the history of it and how it has been looked after so for now there are no worrying signs.  :)

Your car looks good. Most people would cover the number plate before taking the photo so something to consider if you swap this photo for another.
