UVG Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Hi AllI’m running a 2005 1.6hd1 VTR C5 with the particle filter in the exhaust systemcan anyone tell me when it does its regeneration will I know?does anything come up on the screen on the dashI have had the car two years and I’m not aware of it ever happeningI’m having trouble intermittently when the car is cold of it coughing and spluttering to a halt.it feels like there isn’t enough fuel getting through but having changed EGR and MAF and checked other bits and pieces I’m wondering if it’s more a case of exhaust gases not getting out fast enoughbut once it’s warm any sludge in the filter softens up and let the "air" flow then stiffens up as it coolsit’s just a thought but it has left me wondering if the car will tell me when it’s regeneratingCheers for any help UVG Quote
Johndouglas Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 You probably won't notice when the regen takes place. I don't know about the 1.6 version but the 2ltr regenerates about every 5-600 miles. If your very observant you may notice a slight temperature rise or a faint smell. Quote
paul.h Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 If you use live data on a code reader you could check the temperatures on the car to see if they are realistic - engine coolant and inlet air. If these ar enot right the fuel air mixture may not be right. Also the exhaust lambda sensors can be checked but I think these do not work until warmed up. Quote
MikeLane Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 Hi there - I've the same model and wonder if your problem could simply be the fuel filter being bunged?Mine's done around 108K and, for a while now I get "risk of particle filter blocking" (usually when driving up hill) and service lamp lit. The lamp goes out after a few miles when driving on more level roads or giving it a blast in a lower gear. Not sure that I've ever been aware of a regen.I should point out that I've never had a "Low ELOYS level" warning and it's never been topped up although it's supposed to be after 75K (?). However, I may buy some fluid and pour some into the tank (before filling with Deisel) and seeing whether this stops the warning.(The last time (around 5K ago) it was "Lexiaed" the ELOYS tank appeared to be about 1/4 full so.....)
