sdreiter Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Hello, I am the new owner of a second hand C3 (2002) Amongst other problems the indicators have started playing up yesterday. When indicating left there is a noticeable delay (perhaps 2 seconds) then the right arrow (inside) flashes with the right exterior indicator lights for 2-4 flashes then it corrects to the left side (inside and out) Same happens when indicating right (vice versa) Anybody know what could be going on here? Strangely enough this has only started happening since the car was broken into a couple of days ago. There is no sign of damage but the fuse box in the glove box was opened. Nothing seems out of place however. Thanks in advance. Quote
Johndouglas Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Was the steering lock broken or interfered with? Quote
sdreiter Posted August 19, 2015 Author Posted August 19, 2015 It all seems ok, I will check in the morning. How would I know if it has been forced? Would it just not lock anymore? Quote
Johndouglas Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 It was just a thought that if the steering had been forced then maybe the Comms 2000 unit which controls the lighting and indicator switches may have got damaged. Quote
sdreiter Posted August 19, 2015 Author Posted August 19, 2015 Ok I will take a look thanks. I have posted a separate post about a key issue in the sticky forum, don't suppose you have a theory of that? I'm thinking of trying one of the programming methods, other than that I'm scratching my head a bit. Quote
paul.h Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Possibly the glove box was opened to access the OBD 16 pin socket so diagnostic equipment could be used to get round the immobilser. A possible way to overcome the steering lock may be to use force to turn the steering wheel so that the lock is broken - we had this on an Astra. If you remove the ignition key can the steering wheel be turned or does the steering lock still prevent this ? So if the lock is broken and then the immobilser is overcome then the car could be driven away but also the starter switch on the back of the key barrel would need to be turned - on the Astra the column covers were prised off and a screwdriver used to turn the switch. It makes you wonder why somebody would want to take the car, possibly for spares but then scrap yards are available for this. As for the remote not working, you may be best trying a dealer using their diagnostic equipment to see if everything is communicating and this would include the comms 2000 unit (possibly it has been corrupted by the use of the theft diagnostic equipment). paul.h Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Another thought, how did the person get in to the car, does the previous owner still have a key but not one with an immobiliser chip ? Quote
