c5 and mostly happy Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Hi, if anyone has an unwanted towbar that they want to sell or just get out of the way, can you please give me a call or text on 07929784722. Thanks Keith Quote
Johndouglas Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Try the breakers or possibly ebay. But be wary of using a secondhand towbar for anything other than pulling a small trailer. You'll never know its history. Quote
c5 and mostly happy Posted September 2, 2015 Author Posted September 2, 2015 Hi John, thanks for the leads. Only intend to use for small trailer for trips to the local tip and such. Keith Quote
paul.h Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Have a look at this topic http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/23022-2006-c5-estate-tow-bar-wanted/ The price difference between an old towbar and a new one when you add the likely cost of all new bolts is not enough to make the possible risk of an old one failing worth the bother. Towbar bolts are all high tensile ones so you would need to source the right strength, could be 8.8 or higher. Quote
c5 and mostly happy Posted September 3, 2015 Author Posted September 3, 2015 Good advice. Thanks Quote
paul.h Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Once you have fit your towbar you need to inform the insurance company and they will note it as a modification. There should not be a charge for this but it stops them finding a way out of not paying a claim. This topic will help you with the wiring http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/3693-towbar-electrics/?hl=%2Btowbar+%2Bwiring Quote
