JSF79 Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 I have a run out model (2007 on a '56 plate) C5 2.0HDi Exclusive auto with literally all the bells and whistles which I adore. Two weeks after passing it's recent MOT it suddenly lost power and now pulls like an out of breath sparrow, doing 0-60 eventually if at all. The strange thing is it starts and runs fine, burns no oil, emits no smoke and has no warning lights up.My mechanic diagnosed a seized turbo. Is he right?? Quote
MikeLane Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 Could well be - especially if there are no warning lights or messages (Particle filter blocked, depollution system faulty etc.) which could mean it's in "Limp Mode". Best to find someone with a Lexia to check it out. Quote
JSF79 Posted September 5, 2015 Author Posted September 5, 2015 Thanks Mike. What is a Lexia and how would I find somebody with one? Looks like it may be a 'SPARES OR REPAIR' sale on eBay unfortunately :-( Shame, I love the car to drive, think it looks fab in deep blue paint and the turning headlights still amuse me! Quote
Johndouglas Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 . What is a Lexia and how would I find somebody with one? Lexia is the diagnostic machine used by Citroen dealers. The Chinese have cloned it and examples are sold on ebay - some better than others. In fact, it's reported that some won't even work on C5's. A known good model, although not the cheapest can be seen here:- http://easydiagnostics.co.uk/#/shop/4590186381/lexia-3-diagbox-for-citroen-peugeot/10015520 Some forum members have their own Lexia and for a beer token will introduce it to your car. It might be that any code reader will give an indication of a fault codes. My previous C5 went into limp mode when I was towing my caravan up a steep hill in Spain. On reaching the top of the hill, I read the code and deleted it. Fortunately the fault didn't come back. Quote
paul.h Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 How did the mechanic diagnose a seized turbo, did he remove the inlet/outlet pipes and see if it would rotate ? More likley there is a sensor or actuator fault for it suddenly to lose power and the diagnostic check is the way to go. Quote
JSF79 Posted September 5, 2015 Author Posted September 5, 2015 He took everything off, actuators and valves seemed to move ok. Diagnosis was from a Citroën mechanic based on information given... Quote
