Hello thank you for the posts regarding buying a C5. The car has done 118000ml full dealer service history but no signs of a cambelt change is one due and at what cost.should this put me off buying this car ?.thanks jambutty

At that mileage it will also be due for the exhaust dpf to be serviced and with the eolys fluid refill it could be several £100 - dpf should be done at 100k miles and the fluid  level checked every 50k miles and if needed to be topped up.

Timing belt replacement is 140k miles or 10 years if sooner for normal service or 112500 miles for arduous service. So whilst not yet officially needed, you need to allow for it needing doing soon. A dealer will give you an idea of the cost but including the water pump/pulleys/belt/auxiliary belt and its pulleys, it is likely to be around £400 or more.

Normal service intervals for the car are 20k miles or 2 years if sooner, so it could be due for a service.

A major thing to check for on the 2008 on C5 is a leaking steering rack. This is very common and needs a replacement rack to fix. It leaks from the column shaft oil seal and sometimes from the fluid pipe connections. A recon rack is around £250 or a new one fitted at a dealer about £1200. This is included in the C5 Technical section Common Problems pinned topic.
