hello, i am currently having problems with my parking sensors after i have re fitted my towbar,

after my car crash in oct 2014, i am now fitting all my cars with a towbar, i bought this 2002 C5 hatch back 3.0l V6 exclusive a few weeks ago, and it had came with a swan neck towbar, after fitting it, the parking sensors went crazy and now making a consent beep all the time when the car is going back wards, is there any way i could make the parking sensors work with the towball still fixed to the car?

I had the same problem when I fitted a towbar to my previous C5 - the sensors picked up the presence of the towball and the alarm sounded. The only way to avoid it is to have the car put on a diagnostic Lexia and the system programed so that the car recognizes the towbar. In my case, I just switched off the sensors on the dashboard.

The middle parking sensors on our C5 estate sometimes see the towbar. The towball is bolted to the towbar. Adjusting the position of the 13 pin wiring socket helped but it seems sensitive to the position of the towball cover and slight adjustments of its position can get it out of line of the sensors.

Grateful if you would expand on your 2 comments. "Program lexia to recognise towbar" and "switch off sensors on dashboard". How can the system be programmed to ignore a parking signal caused by the permanent presence of a towbar, but presumably respond normally to other obstacles? Do you mean the two central sensors can be disabled? I am unaware of anyway of disabling my parking sensors from the dashboard of my 2001 2.2hdi exc se(156k miles).

On my 2005 facelifted Exclusive there was a switch on the dashboard which turned off the sensors. I think if you want the system to ignore the tow ball, the towbar wiring needs to be a dedicated Citroen kit programmed by Lexia..

My present C5 estate didn't come with reverse sensors however, I've fitted a kit but with only the two outer ones so as to avoid the fixed towball.
