arak81 Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Hi guys, As a new owner of Citroen C4 VTR Plus (2006) 1.6 Diesel there are many things that I need to know. If any of our forum friends knows about it please help me out 1. Master buttons (Driver side) for the windows are not working properly. does anyone know what could be the problem and how to get them work? 2. Parking sensor - I have checked the menu in car functions and it says, parking sensor is activated, but I can't see any functioning. Like when I park the car can't see rear wiper working. 3. Owner's manual says if i put the gear in reverse to park automatically mirrors will be set lower so that kerb can be seen by the driver. But i can not see it working in my car. 4. is headlight auto..I mean if I load the car in full do i need to manually adjust the head light focus position or it should do its own way for right position? 4. is it possible to upgrade the audio system to have aux port and bluetooth in system? whats the model number that will fit in my car and rough price? 5. I love this car..just yesterday i drove it from London to Hayle. it drove smoothly except clutch and steering vibration. once I go back to London I will get them fixed. but I realise when i stop the car it gives a shake as the engine goes off. is it quite normal with this car? Is there any particular thing that i need to take good care. I red someone's post about turbo. how to take care of this? Quote
Johndouglas Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Your owners manual is a general purpose book that is issued with every level throughout your model's range. Just because a function is listed in the book doesn't necessarily mean that it's on your car. If your parking sensors don't work it may mean that one of the sensors has broken. If one fails, they all fail. A Lexia session will indicate which one may be faulty. If you load the car in the rear, you need to manually adjust the headlights. Only cars with hydraulic suspension do it automatically. Your particular engine is prone to turbo failure - but only if engine maintenance is neglected. You must ensure that only fully synthetic engine oil is used; and that it's changed regularly together with a new oil filter. Many careful owners have the engine flushed at each change. When the battery is disconnected on your car it must be done according to a set routine. If it isn't, several electrical malfunctions may take place, including a malfunction of the window winding process. I would suggest that for a start you do the battery disconnect. It's called a BSI reset. Have a look at this topic:- http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/20279-common-problems-rev-392015/ Go to paragraph number 16. Although it mentions the C3, the same applied throughout the Citroen/Peugeot range. Quote
arak81 Posted September 25, 2015 Author Posted September 25, 2015 Hi Johndouglas, Thanks for the quick reply. I know what you said about the owner's manual. its generally for all ranges of same model. but inside the car setting menu, i have seen parking sensor is activated and i can deactivate too. so doesn't it mean that this specific car has this option. and what about the wing mirror? is it general for all cars? I can not see any movement of wings mirrors with rear gear action. BTW, i forgot to add, I can not get my climate control work when car is in ignition mode. it was working before but somehow i did something and now it doesn't work until i start the engine? you have been great helped. I'll look at the link that you have given. thank you very much..any more suggestion from anybody would be appreciated. Quote
paul.h Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 1. Possibly there is a switch fault such as it needs cleaning internally or replacing or depending on what the symptoms are, there is a wiring fault such as where it goes between the door and body. 2. If you look at the back bumper can you see the parking sensors - we had a 2008 C4 1.6 hdi vtr+ and that did not have parking sensors. 3. The auto indexing of the kerb side door mirror when selecting reverse will only be fitted if you have the parking sensor option when the car was made. For it to work, the driver's door mirror selection switch has to be in the position for the passenger door mirror. 4. Auto head lights usually means they will automatically come on when it gets dark. If your car has this the light switch may need to be left in a set position and possibly it may need to be activated via the radio menu or holding in the button on the end of the light stalk (as on the C5). It will also need the light sensor at the top middle of the windscreen. The height of the lights is set manually using the rotary switch at the right side of the dash. 4. Audio upgrade - ask somewhere like Halfords but make sure they confirm it will not affect other features of the car such as the steering wheel switches. 5. Engine shaking when it is switched off - if this occurs each time then it may be a sign there is something wrong such as the dual mass flywheel is worn. worn engine mountings, etc. 6. Climate control should not work without the engine running. If you mean just the cabin fan, then this might run if the ignition switch is turned so the dash lights up unless the car is in eco mode (without the engine running, some things will not work after approx 15 minutes to stop the battery going flat - includes internal lights, the radio) Quote
arak81 Posted September 29, 2015 Author Posted September 29, 2015 thank you paul.h but just to point you out, engine doesn't shake. car itself when i turn the engine off. its like little vibration when engine goes off. Quote
