Bjarke Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Hi Guys I'm new at thsi so bare with me. I have a C5 mark I from 2002. Petrol version. I'm loosing coolant and almost all of it. I did som work on it an discovered that it is leaking from on to the pipes going into the cabin. On the top pipe there is a small nut, or just a very small pipe, where it is flowing out. Does anyone know what it is for, and is something missing on it? I highpressure valve or tube or something? BR Bjarke Quote
Johndouglas Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 I'm not familiar with your petrol driven C5 however from your description I wonder if you are describing the flow and return water pipes for the heater matrix. On other cars I've worked on, there's been an air bleed on one of those the pipes to allow air to be released when refilling the cooling system. Quote
Bjarke Posted September 30, 2015 Author Posted September 30, 2015 If there is no plug or tap should I then just block it? Quote
Johndouglas Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 No you can't block it. You may need it to bleed off the air. Bleed screws are very similar to Schrader tyre valves - except there's no core in the valve. It just relies on the cap holding the water pressure. Quote
Bjarke Posted September 30, 2015 Author Posted September 30, 2015 I will try a tied down siliconetube, which can be folded out and opened for bleeding. That should hold up until next visit to the mechanic. Thanks for helping out:-) Quote
paul.h Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 Looking at the parts diagrams, the cap for the bleed pipe does not seem to be listed separate to the hose but if you visit your Citroen dealer they may be able to sell the cap on its own. Quote
