Hi everyone, I have always wanted a c5 estate and finally found one that was within budget, deal done, however I have a problem, it does not have a spare wheel or room in the space for one, citreon have told me that they do not come with one and they normally have a tyre inflator and a sealant but I don't like the idea of using or even trusting the sealant. So I have been searching to know avail for a solution. What are you people using. Please help I don't want to get caught out.

What year is the C5 estate? I've had two different marks and both have come with a full sized steel spare complete with a tyre which matches those on the four road alloys. The spare fits in a wheel well under the boot floor and accessed from the load area.

Now the C4 is a different matter. That does not come with a spare wheel. However my daughter found no difficulty in finding a steel rim and tyre which fits in the boot once the inflator is removed.

When Citroen supply cars without a spare wheel such as the C4, they also do not provide the jack, the jack handle if separate to the jack, the wheel nut brace, the tool to remove the wheel nut covers, the tray in which these all sit and a plastic nut to hold the tray to the floor. When we bought a 2011 C4 I had to buy all these but when that car was replaced I transferred them to the same model replacement car and put back the sealant, air compressor and expanded plastic boot insert in which these sit.

Both our C5s came with full size steel spare wheels 2004 and a 2007 car and looking at brochures for the later mark 3 C5 they do not mention having sealant instead of a spare wheel (Citroen normally include this information) so it could be the car you are looking at has had the spare wheel removed.

My c5 is a 59 plate a full size spare would not fit in the space in the floor in the back but it looks like a spacesaver would hence the original question. I have seen a second hand 17 inch spacesaver for sale but not Citroen. I have seen a peugeot 407 year 2010 spacesaver size t135/80/R17 but don't know whether it would fit or not. More help please

I think you need to try one of your road wheels. It's not possible that all C5 estates from 2001 up to 2008 would carry a full size spare then in 2009, they won't. Certainly the 2010 models do.

Is your car a 1.6 hdi or a 2.7 hdi ?

I have a C5 brochure for January 2009 and in it a steel spare wheel is standard apart from the 1.6 hdi and the 2.7 hdi where it is an option. So you will be able to fit a spare wheel since the body work on the 1.6 hdi is still the same as the other models.

To be truthful I just looked at the empty space and assumed due to the size and the fact that it had 2 plastic dividers in the wheel space that it should have had a spacesaver in there and it had been removed and not put back. Tomorrow I will remove a wheel and give it a try. Watch this space

Why not just measure a wheel and save the effort of removing one ?

What engine does your car have ?

What size wheels and tyres do you have now - if you have 16inch then the spare steel wheel is 16 inch and tyre 225/60R16 98V or 215/60R16 95V for 1.6 hdi, if you have 17 or 18 or 19 inch wheels then the steel spare is 17 inch and tyre 225/55R17 97W.
