On here P1294 comes back as

P1294 Injector High Side Open - Bank 2/Target idle not reached

An internet search also came up with

P1294

Injector High side open - Bank 2/Target idle not reached

SIRIUS81 (EW10D) - Fuel rail pressure. High value received.1

So maybe with your Lexia you could check the fuel pressure and also anything to do with the injectors.

Is the engine actually working ?

Have a look at the live data with your Lexia and see what temperatures it is giving for inlet air temp (AIT or IAT - should be about 10 to 30°C as the engine warms) and engine temp (should be about 10°C before starting and then slowly go up to about 95°C).

Thanks for the help

Plugged the lexia in today theses are the faults it is showing me

Fuel Pressure regulation efficiency drop

P1294 engine speed 2463 rpm

            coolent temp 82 deg c

            engine load 3nm

            rail pressure 141 bars

P1297 engine speed 706 rpm

            coolent temp 78 deg c

            engine load 14nm

            rail pressure 71

Any help much appreciated im pulling my hair out with this now

The coolant temps are probably ok if the engine was still warming up.

In the Haynes manual it says the hpi fuel pump gives up to 100 bar and after it there is a pressure regulator and then a pressure sensor - possibly this regulator (or the sensor) is faulty since P1294 above is noted as on the EW10D engine as high fuel rail pressure.

On here P1297 gives - Injector High Sides Shorted Together. I have no idea what this means but you could have a look for any wiring problems around the injectors. However, I found this in a search which came up on another Citroen forum

P1297

Injector high sides shorted together
SIRIUS81 (EW10D) - Fuel rail pressure. High value received.2

It seems that for your engine the fault code definitions may not be the standard ones that first come up

so it could be the same thing, the fuel rail pressure is too high.

is it definatley a petrol or was that a type error. if its a petrol job look at the end of the camshaft were the petrol pump is and see if its a siemans pump. they are notorious for the pumps failing and giving low rail pressure faults

Thanks guys ordered the sensor finding it difficult to find a regulator, why is it so difficult to find spares Citroen have stopped making certain parts for this engine ie the regulator

Finally fixed after sourcing a new fuel regulator thanks for the help guys

Lessons learned for me 1:- diagnose with lexia first

2: Should have removed the inlet manifold as this would have revealed the large amout of fuel and petrol which blackened the inlet manifold and port would have saved me a fair bit of money bit swapping and guessing

Also discovered to my disgust the lack of support from Peugeot Citroen around making parts for this car anymore

I am pleased it is now fixed. Just shows how useful the internet can be to help interpret fault codes since it showed the hpi codes are not standard definitions. When a fault code comes up the first thing I do is search on it.

If you have time later you may want to see what fuel pressures you are now getting.

Ok, I am new here and also to Citroens and have been reading postings and have a couple of questions.

1) What is a Lexia.?   I am guessing it is a 'code reader.

2)Where could I get one.?

3)And what is the approximate cost.?

4) Would it be any good for my Xsara 2000 model 1.4i petrol. ?

Thankyou in advance for any info.

The Lexia is the Citroen diagnostic tool. Chinese copies are available through ebay to install on a lap top and are up to about £100. Most people would buy a diagnostic tool/code reader once they have a problem, otherwise it would not be used much. With your car being a petrol pre 2001, low cost code readers may not work on it since it is before cars had to be OBD compliant but a Lexia probably would work and you should check with the supplier.

There are some Lexia topics here http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/23278-lexia-diagbox-pp2000-topics-1822016/
