TheGoose Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Hi, I have activated the child lock on the NSR door on my 2001 C5 as I have a child seat on that side. Now the central locking on the door has packed up and will not unlock, so I cannot open the door from the inside or outside! When I press the fob I can hear the mechanism working in the door, how can I open the door now to disable the child lock to fix the central locking? I am so paranoid now as not being able to gain quick access in case of an emergency, can anyone help? Thanks Mike Quote
coastline taxis Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 very common fault. you need a new lock mechanism Quote
paul.h Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 This is from the C5 Common Problems topic and I think was copied from a post by coastline:14. Rear door will not open from the inside and outside. This has not happened to our C5s but it is a common problem. To fix: remove the door card, it is awkward with the door shut but can be doneonce removed, follow the rod to the door lock and remove the white plastic covernow try to look into the door and you will see the insides of the lockuse a screwdriver and push the lever down on the inside of the lock and the door will openreplace the lock with a different one. TheGoose Posted April 17, 2016 Author Posted April 17, 2016 Hi All, I have finally been arsed to look into my NSR door only but a few minutes ago. I can not see a white plastic cover, however there is one behind a large black plastic cover which has one torx screw in it. I removed the torx screw but could not get the black plastic cover off, so I ripped it off with some good old plumbers grips. I then saw the behinds of the child lock (red plastic), so I inserted a small flat blade screwdriver into it and turned it anti-clockwize until it clicked. I was then able to open the door by pulling the rod. So what is happening now is, when i close the door the central locking sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. What is happening is: I lock the car and I cannot open the door from outside, but I can now from inside once the car is unlocked again. When i lock the car, the door will lock. But not unlock, that is before a few good whacks to the outside of the door I finally got the central locking working again! I played around for a good 10 times, locking and unlocking the car, and every time now the door will work correctly. So it got me wondering if I should remove the lock and try lubricating it? As maybe there is something internal which is sticking slightly? I will give it a go perhaps later on and see how things go. Failing that I assume I could get any old lock from a breakers yard, as there is no barrel to worry about? Thanks Mike Quote
