Hi All,

Going to be replacing my timing belt and water pump soon.

1.4 hdi 8hx engine 90k miles

At the minute its still got the original Citroen long life coolant.

Is it worth draining the system and refilling with fresh red antifreeze?

Has anybody got a diagram of where the bleed screws are?

Many thanks

From one of your other topics, your car is a 2010 C3 and the 8HX is a DV4TD.

From the Citroen service box procedures, to drain the coolant undo the radiator lower hose and an engine block drain plug at the back of the engine held in by a clip which needs removing (new O-ring and clip needed). The 2 bleed screws are shown on what appears to be a fitting on the bulkhead and on the thermostat housing (remove the air inlet hose to see it).

Before putting in new coolant give the engine a good flush with clean water. The new coolant could be obtained from a Citroen dealer to make sure it is the correct type since colours of coolant do not mean it is correct. In the parts diagrams Citroen list Glysantin G33 (or Revkogel 2000) as long life - in 1 litre sizes part no. 9735.K1 which is ready mixed and 9735.K4 which is not. I have found this is blue coloured and not red or clear as the original coolant.
