Alexwpoole Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Hi All, I have just got a 2010 (10 plate) C5 salon VTR+ Nav. All is good with the car apart from the parking sensors don't work. I have checked the on/off button located behind the windscreen wiper control and this when pushed does not light up. This leads me to think that there is no power to it rather than the connection to the sensors. My first thought was the fuse but in the owners handbook it states that the fuse controls other items which are working fine. As i am not veey clied up about this does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks for any replies. Alex Quote
paul.h Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 Welcome to the forum. Not all C5s have parking sensors as standard, are you sure your car has them. If it does one of the sensors could be faulty or there may be a wiring fault. Sometimes you can hear the sensors buzzing if you are close to them. Check the wiring inside the boot area and at the back of the bumper to see if everything looks ok. If these checks do not help then to find the fault will need a diagnostic check using a dealer type Lexia. You could also try a new sensor testing it in all the 4 places and see if this gives a fix since it would be cheaper than a diagnostic check. Quote
Johndouglas Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 I have just got a 2010 (10 plate) C5 salon VTR+ Nav.As Paul has pointed out, not all VTRs have them. Mine hasn't didn't, although I've since fitted them to the rear Quote
Alexwpoole Posted January 12, 2016 Author Posted January 12, 2016 Thanks both, The car definatley has sensors and where an optional extra at time of purchase (Well that is what the paperwork says). I have briefly checked the wiring and nothing looks like it has come away but could have a more indepth look. As for testing with a new sensor, is this easy enough to do as I have never tried? Johndouglas Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 The car definatley has sensors and where an optional extra at time of purchase Mine just has a blank filler where the switch should be. If you have the switch, then you'll have the sensors. Will the switch remove so that you can test for 12volts? Quote
Meldrew Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 Hi i also have the same 160 vtr+ mine also has the switch but nothing happens as per original post on closer inspection of the rear bumper it looks like something was there? but no longer , do the rear sensors connect too something in the wheel well or if it isnt an original option do citroen retro fit wiring so the add on can be added?.. Richiejh Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 I've just bought a 2009 VTR+ and it doesn't have parking sensors. The switch behind the wiper stalk is actually the alarm switch on mine. The parking sensor switch is supposed to be on the left of the heater controls, my wife is not best pleased about my oversight! Quote
paul.h Posted December 4, 2016 Posted December 4, 2016 Aftermarket parking sensor kits are cheap enough so it should not be too expensive to keep her happy. One from a Citroen dealer and installed by them though could be around £300 but will still be a type with a buzzer stuck in the back somewhere and not an original option one linked to the screen. If you have a towbar you might consider a 2 sensor kit so the towball does not cause it to go off - this is what johndouglas did. Quote
Richiejh Posted December 16, 2016 Posted December 16, 2016 Where does the factory parking sensor ECU go? I'm looking to add a kit and I used the factory plug on my C8 to power it up. I can't find the factory plug on my C5 Quote
