Johndouglas Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Hello & welcome. Which engine do you have? What's the mileage? Your problem could be caused by a few different faults. It's best to have the fault codes read with a diagnostic meter. Quote
paul.h Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 The anti pollution message just means there is a fault that can affect the exhaust emissions and it could be anything. The engine management light should be on unless the fault has cleared and the car may be put in limp mode reducing the performance so the emissions are not too bad. As John says, the lowest cost way to find out what is wrong is to use a code reader. If you do not have access to one, then it is cheaper to buy one than pay for a garage diagnostic check. On the 2008 on C5 I believe the 16 pin connector for a code reader is in the compartment between the front seats. An example of a code reader that also gives some engine live data which can also help to diagnose a fault https://www.gendan.co.uk/product_FXNT200.html Quote
Jim12345 Posted January 25, 2016 Author Posted January 25, 2016 Thank you guys it is intermittent but no difference in the cars performance I was wondering dirt in the fuel ? Quote
Jim12345 Posted January 25, 2016 Author Posted January 25, 2016 Sorry it is the 2ltr and has 69000 on it Quote
paul.h Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 It could be a bad batch of diesel and you could try a different supplier to see if it goes away. Things that can put the anti pollution message up can include the following but a code reader is needed to see which one. Otherwise you could replace lots of parts hoping to find the faulty one before wasting too much money. - blocked exhaust dpf- exhaust catalyst failing- exhaust lambda sensor fault- cam shaft sensor fault- fuel pressure fault- fuel filter blocked- air flow sensor fault- fuel injector fault- air leak- egr valve fault Quote
Jim12345 Posted January 26, 2016 Author Posted January 26, 2016 Thanks Paul will see if I can get the code today Quote
Johndouglas Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 I believe the 16 pin connector for a code reader is in the compartment between the front seats. That's right! Pull back the rubber lining from the front of the compartment and the socket is hidden behind it. Quote

If so it could be low/empty after this mileage. Anyway a code reader will tell you. Quote
