seefive Posted January 29, 2016 Posted January 29, 2016 Looked at the Citroen site recently. They now list a total of 2 C5 saloons, VTR+ and exclusive, both with the dreaded 1.6 hdi engine (start stop), That's it, unless you count 1.6 auto as another version, ( on exclusive only) Can't be long now before it's dropped completely..replaced by a new DS something? What a shame. Citroen/DS are really losing their way. Gone are the quirky, high value offerings of old. (cactus excepted) They are trying to be premium, and it doesn't really work. the DS range is over priced and under-spec'd, (eg DS4 with non-opening rear windows - come off it!) Don't know what i will buy next, probably just hang onto my Mk2 for as as long as possible... Quote
Johndouglas Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 You're right! All the indications are that the C5 will disappear from the showrooms. It's all part of the cost cutting programme that PSA agreed when the French Government and Dongfeng bailed them out a coupe of years ago. It also seems that when the C5 gets replaced, the hydraulic suspension will be dropped as well. Sadly, Citroen sold less than 18000 C5s in the whole of Europe in the past year. However, not so in China. There apparently, Donfeng have announced that sales and satisfaction reports are increasing. Maybe the time will come when China exports used Citroens to the UK. Quote
paul.h Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 A search indicates in China they drive on the right side of the road so maybe importing a Chinese C5 may not be straight forward. To preserve your C5 maybe you also need a small runabout car like a C4. Most of our miles are done in our C4 and our 2007 C5 is used mainly when a large car is needed (caravan towing, lots of things to move). Partly due to fuel economy but also to preserve the C5, it is only on 23k miles, averaging about 3k a year whereas the C4 is about 11k a year. Quote
ESL57 Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 (edited) I think when the c5 x7 production started in Opel's factory in Germany, it was always going to be short term. The big players have moved away from this shape of car, along with the conventional Avensis, Passat Laguna etc. Engines seem to get stuffed under the bulkhead now to give cabin room without increasing the wheelbase. seefive Posted May 3, 2016 Author Posted May 3, 2016 Site now shows no C5's in the "car range" page and no C5 brochure, although it is still on the price list. Spluttering to a halt? Quote

seefive Posted May 19, 2016 Author Posted May 19, 2016 Hi Paul and John I guess C5 should be moved out of the current models section now? Quote
Johndouglas Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 I guess C5 should be moved out of the current models section now? You're right Seefive - it should. But I ain't moving it - it might all end up in recycling... :D Quote
Johndouglas Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 Apparently Citroen is working on an all-new suspension system to replace the hydropnuematic suspension of the past 60 years. Read about it here Quote
