Juddy07 Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Hi guys, really hoping someone can help. About two months back I went out for dinner and after a couple of hours I returned to my car (C4 2.0l VTS Petrol) to find it wouldn't start! No warning signs, nothing on the drive to the restaurant and suddenly, 2 hours later, dead! I was fortunate enough to have a really good recovery guy who ran multiple checks and found there was no fuel getting to the engine. A faulty fuel pump seeming to be the issue. Well a few weeks back the fuel pump was changed and still nothing! No start! There is now however fuel getting to the engine. The car will turn over but just not fire! The battery is now low and the car keeps going into economy mode. Deciding it was a spark issue now (service is overdue) I ordered a new coil pack and plugs which I've since fitted today and still nothing! I had jump leads running from my other car (1998 Astra 1.6 8V) so it had power yet still it wouldn't start! It did on a couple of occasions sound like it wanted to go but didn't! Has anyone got any ideas as it's really bugging me now. There is a high pitched buzzing noise coming from what appears to be around the alternator! No ideas what it is or why it's buzzing.Any suggestions are much welcomedCheers Matt Quote
paul.h Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Welcome to the forum. What year is the car and what power output is the engine ? Maybe it is an immobiliser problem and the key is not being recognised. You could try the spare key. Failing this the lowest cost option instead of replacing more parts, may be to have a diagnostic check at a Citroen dealer or other specialist with the correct Lexia diagnostic equipment. If the engine management light has not come on, then one fault that would not bring this up but can prevent the engine starting is a failed crankshaft position sensor and this may be located at the top/front of the clutch housing or at the bottom if a vti engine. I do not know what the buzzing noise can be but it may be relevant. Quote
mhedwig Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Test the crankshaft sensor if that stops working it stops the spark Quote
Juddy07 Posted January 31, 2016 Author Posted January 31, 2016 Thanks a lot for the replies, I will order a new crankshaft sensor tomorrow and fingers crossed I will have her running again!Just to answer your question Paul it's a 2006 180bhp Quote
paul.h Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 For the 2.0i 180 bhp the crank sensor may be part no. 1920EN and at about £17 is worth replacing if only to eliminate the crank sensor as a possible fault http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FLYWHEEL-CAMSHAFT-SENSOR-FOR-CITROEN-BERLINGO-1920EN-/330540371682 I would check the part no. though using your car VIN. A bargain £15 haha only trouble now is I'm struggling to locate it! Popping to the Citroen garage now to see if they can help. The car is destined not to move lol Quote
Gargyuk Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 Just to bring up an old post same thing on my c4 1.4 petrol started with anti pollution fail coil pack plugs fuel pump replaced still not starting showing misfires on the diags. Just ordered a new camshaft position sensor it will be with me tomorrow where abouts is it located on this engine?? Quote
paul.h Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 Welcome to the forum. Depending on the year of your car and which 1.4 petrol engine, it will be somewhere on the top of the engine where it can pick up a signal from the cam shaft. Looking at your new part will help you locate it. Rather than replacing all those other parts, you would have been better spending the money on a code reader which should have given a clue on what needed replacing. Gendan do one for about £40 that also does some engine live data. Quote
Gargyuk Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 Ye I did buy a code reader just was showing misfires in all cylinders.and at the moment don't show a fault at all. It's driven me mental over the last month. I git told by the citroen garage that some times the cam shaft position sensor won't show as a fault.... it's a 2007 by the way Quote
Gargyuk Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 (edited) Thanks for the reply Edited April 20, 2016 by Gargyuk Quote
paul.h Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 We had a cam sensor fail on a C3 1.4 vti petrol 95 bhp engine and that gave a fault code and put the car in limp mode but maybe one is not always given, as with the crank shaft sensor. Do you have the fault codes that were previously given to put on here ? Quote
Gargyuk Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 Can't remember them off top of my head but basically all 4 cylinders misfiring Quote
paul.h Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 On here gives P0351 Ignition Coil A Primary/Secondary Circuit Malfunction P0352 Ignition Coil B Primary/Secondary Circuit Malfunction P0353 Ignition Coil C Primary/Secondary Circuit Malfunction P0354 Ignition Coil D Primary/Secondary Circuit Malfunction This link may give a few ideas on what to check such as a common 12 volt supply, earthing fault, maybe the ecu. http://www.justanswer.com/uploads/Bluegorilla/2009-07-24_162303_2005_vibe_p0351-4.pdf This is copied from another forum:http://c4owners.org/plugins/forum/attachment/1/1321373074_1_FT147533_p0350.png Quote
