delart Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Hi after having a 2.0 hdi and my 2.2 hdi breaking its cam belt I might have to get another car been looking hard all day for a C5 hdi Exclusive not many about and none I can find with a sunroof can anybody confirm if they do the latest model with one? Lenny Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Me too. Been looking for about a month now.Anything decent seems to sell very quickly- even if they look overpriced. Last week I went to see the 2010 138bhp auto that's for sale in Sheffield. http://www.bristolstreet.co.uk/used-car/1197299/citroen-c5-2-0hdi-16v-exclusive-5dr-auto-diesel-tourer/ If you're after a nice one then I wouldn't waste your time, it was rough. I've not seen one with a sunroof yet, although the panoramic roof seems a relatively popular option. Quote
paul.h Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 A 2010 sales brochure lists an electric slide/tilt sunroof as an option on the saloon vtr+Nav and exclusive and on the tourer the panoramic glass sunroof is an option on the vtr+Nav and exclusive. Do you definitely need a sunroof, if you can not find a car with one then there will be companies that could fit one. Welcome to the forum Lenny. Have a look at the C5 Technical section pinned Common Problems topic to see what can go wrong with the mark 3 C5 (X7) since some are expensive to fix such as steering rack oil leaks, front wiper motors failing. MikeLane Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Been thinking about replacing my 2005 C5 1.6HDi for some time. The only REAL replacement is the Tourer since the saloon has no hatch and I quite often carry so much stuff that I have to take the internal "lid" out. And the only new C5 with "proper suspension" is the exclusive. However, it looks as though the X7 isn't going to be around for much longer and, from this forum, it seems much less reliable than my Mk.2 (facelift) - despite what everyone else says about the 1.6HDi engine - so I guess I'll just have to hang on to it!(MOT due in March!!!) seefive Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Do you definitely need a sunroof, if you can not find a car with one then there will be companies that could fit one. Mk2 handbook states that a sunroof cannot be retrofit to cars with side airbags. It seems cars with factory sunroof have a different airbag configuration Quote
Johndouglas Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 And the only new C5 with "proper suspension" is the exclusive.Don't disregard the models below the Exclusive because they ride on steel springs. Having ridden on "proper suspension " ever since my first BX in 1990, it was a concern when I considered getting a VTR+. Having owned one now for 18 months, I never think about the suspension. Even when towing my caravan is fine now since I changed the rear springs to MAD uprated springs. Quote
paul.h Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 The early mark 3 C5 with the 2.2 hdi engine also has the hydractive suspension but the official fuel economy is not as good as the 2.0 hdi. Quote
delart Posted February 2, 2016 Author Posted February 2, 2016 Does anybody know the cambelt service intervals on the MK3 2.0 hdi 2008 on? Quote
MikeLane Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 (edited) "Does anybody know the cambelt service intervals on the MK3 2.0 hdi 2008 on?" Have a look at this: http://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=30510&start=30 The handbook for my 1.6HDi says at 125K mikes but I changed it at 90K - just in case - with a full service (including changing anti-freeze and a new water pump etc.It cost £490 (including over £80 VAT!!!) I'll have to see whether I can find one to try. Quote
