Wan Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 Hi all, I need to replace the front suspension spring but I coudn't find the parts in Europarts. I need to buy it from the main dealer and it is expensive. I've already purchased the parts because I just want to get it replaced ASAP so my question just for curiosity, is there anywhere else I can buy the suspension spring other than the main dealer, just in case in a couple of years it happens again?I have been told that Citroen parts are not easy to find (other than from main dealer), is it true? :( Thanks... Johndouglas Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 The spring needs to be matched to the car. Every model of C4 will have a different rated spring. Have a look at www.mister-auto.co.uk It's advisable to change the springs on both sides Quote

Yes I have been told the same thing, it is best to change both sides so I bought 2 springs...cost me 200 quids :( Quote
paul.h Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 Are you replacing the spring because it has broken ? If so I would check with your Citroen dealer service department since it may be replaced (as well as the other side) free of charge. We had a front one on a 2003 C3 break at about 5 years old and a rear one on a 2010 C3 break at about 5 years old and they were replaced by our dealer with Citroen paying. The colours on the new springs should be the same as on the old springs. Quote

I didn't check thoroughly when I bought this car from a private seller last month :(. The car is 8 years old and I'm the third owner, does it still applicable? Do I have to go to the where the first owner bought the car or can I go to any local Citroen dealer service department? Quote
paul.h Posted March 17, 2016 Posted March 17, 2016 Just go to your local Citroen dealer, you have nothing to lose by asking. Our C3s had previous owners, whether 8 years is too old I do not know but I think our dealer said a mileage limit of possibly 80k miles but they contacted somebody in Citroen to get it authorised. paul.h Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 The standard 3 year new car warranty was nothing to do with the repair being free, it was done as a goodwill gesture by Citroen, effectively an acknowledgement they were fitting weak springs. You could try another dealer. I went to ours and spoke to the service people and they then contacted Citroen for authorisation. My local dealer though is good, we have bought 6 cars from them, had servicing done there and I buy spare parts from them, plus as a bonus is only a mile away. Quote
