Hi

Berlingo 2004 HDI 2.0ltr

My key fob is falling apart, asked dealer for replacement and they quoted £100. So far have managed by wrapping shell in sticky tape. Can anyone help and tell me where I can obtain a new case PLEASE.

I have replaced a couple of key cases using ones through ebay. The insides of the old remote are swapped over and also the key blade. On the type where the blade folds in to the case, if it is opened half way a roll pin can be seen holding the blade - this pin is pushed out with something like a small screw and pliers so the blade is released and the blade is then put in the new case, using the pliers to squeeze the pin back. If the battery is not removed from the remote circuit board it will not need the remote to be initialised back to the car but the handbook includes instructions on how to do this if the remote battery is replaced.

So sorry have not replied earlier. I purchased two fob case, one of which was useless, the other was perfect and so simple to refettle the innards into the new case, as for the blade itself had to be a little forcefull and careful removing fro the old case but gentle persuasion and it parted and was slpipped into the new case. Was delighted that the unit worked the central locking and no need to visit the dealer. Cost of fob case £5.49 from ebay, saving min £95.There is a company operating who will fit parts into a new unit at a cost of £18 if you send them your key.

Cheers
