Has anyone updated their Citroen GPS car maps? Is it only me that thinks the charges for the updates are extortionate?

With the additional cost 160+ Euros for the European maps. Here maps on my phone and Tablet are free, as are many updates for standalone GPS systems. I could buy a standalone system for the costs of the Citroen update system.

I would be interested in other people's views.

I did raise the issue with Citroen and HERE. HERE, pass saying it is Citroen Citroen make some very weak comments about the cost of putting it on the the web page etc.

Unless Citroen put the price down I will not bother and what will you do?

Which system do you have?   If it's Myway you can buy a (pirated) copy on ebay.   See here....http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Latest-2016-Peugeot-Citroen-SD-Card-GPS-Sat-Nav-Update-RNEG-Myway-Wipnav-EU-UK-/121975883321The one I'm using is a copy of the 2012 version.

Thanks John Douglas, I have a 7 inch screen, which I don't think is the Myway but thanks for the effort of replying. I am surprised that more people are not making the website hot with replies. If I had known the price I would not have bothered but bought a Citroen multicity connect dongle, which includes mapping.

Thanks again,

Steve

Welcome to the forum.

I think most members of this forum are car owners needing help with one off problems and not car enthusiasts. As a result, once they have received help they do not come back until the next problem and do not help out with problems from other members. Fortunately, there is a hard core of members including the moderators who visit the site most days and will always offer advice where possible.

The price is a bit silly, especially for what is a rather primitive system. You probably have the RT5 or RT6 unit on a 2012 car, if you hop over to gpsunderground.com you will find lots of resources for these systems. if you've not yet identified it there are resources to help with that too.

Obviously, using a pirated set of maps is illegal so I can't recommend it. Personally, I just got a Brodit mount and put a TomTom next to the unit and that way I get proper traffic rather than the rather primitive RDS-TMC, speed cameras and map updates for life for just a bit more that Here want for 1 year of map updates. The satnav screen can then be used for properly displaying music track titles for my passengers ;-)
