ChrisJones74 Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 Hi, I've recently acquired a C5 Mk1 (CDi VTR Diesel) and when fixing a few things under the bonnet I had to remove some of the - I'm not sure what you call them, 'covering plates', 'beautification', 'Plastic bits that cover everything' - that cover up the battery, fuse box, liquid reservoirs, etc. Anyway i noticed that on both sides I'm missing nearly every little plastic retaining 'things', basically a plastic lug with a hole in the middle that you force a plastic rod through, everything expands and hold everything in place. Now seeing as I have a slight squeak coming from under the bonnet on idle that sounds like two bits of plastic rubbing I suspect that the lack of these things is what the problem is. They cant cos a hill of beans so its a reasonable place to start at least. However here is my problem, What are these things called? I'm sure the internet will provide me 500 for a pound if only I had the faintest idea what to look for, So good people help me out? Thanks in advance. Chris Jones PS. Hope I didn't baffle any of you with my technical terms there! Quote
Johndouglas Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 Have a look at these:-http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10X-PEUGEOT-CITROEN-PLASTIC-TRIM-CLIPS-FASTENERS-8211-WV-7013-J0-/221201704568?hash=item3380a62678:g:gpcAAOxyyF5RQxY- Quote
ChrisJones74 Posted May 22, 2016 Author Posted May 22, 2016 Yea that looks like the kind of thing - Not quite the same as the ones I've got but it's a good start - thanks a lot. Chris Jones Quote
paul.h Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 Welcome to the forum. The plastic rivet should be Citroen part 6991X7. There are plenty of copies on ebay but they will be cheap enough at a dealer to make sure they are right. They are a loose fit when in place but should still hold the wing side covers. To make sure the noise is the plastic covers I would remove them and then have a listen, just in case it is a belt pulley or something else that is on its way out. Quote
ChrisJones74 Posted May 22, 2016 Author Posted May 22, 2016 I think this is them. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10-x-PLASTIC-TRIM-RETAINING-CLIP-PUSH-TYPE-RIVET-FOR-PEUGEOT-CITROEN-FIAT-/321779204535?hash=item4aeb8901b7:g:jjcAAOSwZd1VeDlg So Problem solved - thanks very much Quote
paul.h Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 It may be a different size to the ones you need, it gives the Peugeot part no. as 699783 which is also the Citroen part no. It also looks slightly different. You need part no. 6991X7 Quote
MikeLane Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 (edited) My Mk2 C5 uses three different plastic fixings to hold the wheel arch liner in place! One is Rivet 6991 X7 but I can't find the part numbers of the other two. They are 1. a different type of rivet with a squarish headed pin (which almost disappears inside the body) and 2. A flanged (about 12mm dia.) plastic nut. I went to the local Citroen dealer and he was able to find them on his on-line maintenance manual and order them. 5 off each cost about £10 (I think!). I was surprised that he didn;t have them in stock but he said there are so many different types of plastic fixings that he orders them for each job! Edited May 23, 2016 by MikeLane Quote
paul.h Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 The mark 2 C5 front wheel arch liner uses 8211WV hog rings (still look like plastic rivets with a square peg in the middle), the previously mentioned 6991X7 plastic rivets, plastic nuts 712731 and a screw 692510. Whenever I need to get something like this I usually get a couple of spares. Quote
