arak81 Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 I bought a Wynn's Diesel Turbo Cleaner professional (aerosol) to clean up my turbo..in the instruction manual it says I have to spray it in the air intake system of turbo while engine is running. So my question is which hose i need to take off and spray, on the left hand side as i open the bonnet there is an air doser and two hoses are connected with it and also on the right hand side there as another hose. is it right one that i have to take off and spray in the small turban that i can see inside or one from the left hand side. i have uploaded my engine photo with colouring circle..please someone indicate me. coastline taxis Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Personally i would spray anything into it at all. it will be clean enough and if the cleaner has any kind of combustible in it then your engine is just going to over rev and start knocking. google 1.6 turbo failures and see if you still want to add anything to it Quote
arak81 Posted July 1, 2016 Author Posted July 1, 2016 Personally i would spray anything into it at all. it will be clean enough I am confused...Can you give me any link please. and it would be good idea if that link or information can be pinned. BTW, Can you read again what you wrote and correct please. Quote
paul.h Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 I think coastline is saying he would not spray anything in the turbo and that if the spray is flammable then it will act as a fuel and burn in the engine with the diesel. This extra fuel could cause the engine speed to increase whilst it is being sprayed in. Wynn's instructions for this mention this http://www.wynns.eu/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/28679_Turbo-Cleaner_EN.pdf and they have a video showing it being used but I would not put my fingers near the turbo inlet as shown and it also shows them using protective clothing http://www.wynns.eu/product/turbo-cleaner/ . There is also a material safety data sheet http://www.wynns.eu/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/W28679-Turbo-Cleaner-Aerosol-E01.01-EN.pdf The doser valves blue and green are after the turbo so anything you did there would not go to the turbo but straight in to the engine. If you remove the red hose then you would see the turbo impeller on the air inlet and you may see that it is clean. The turbo might be a variable vane type and if you can move the actuator you may be able to check if these are sticking. To see the exhaust side of the turbo will probably need a bit more dismantling. I would suspect anything you spray in to clean the turbo would need to be just after the air filter but before the mass air flow (MAF) meter since if you remove any hoses after the MAF then the engine would not run properly giving a fault code and limp mode - however, Wynn's instructions clearly show the turbo inlet hose removed to spray the foam in to it but do not mention any engine management problems and then possibly the foam could damage a MAF. coastline taxis Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Thank you paul. Id just finished a nightshift and was a bit tired Quote
arak81 Posted July 3, 2016 Author Posted July 3, 2016 Thanks both of you. I had sprayed the whole can and later topped up Full tank diesel with Wyn's Diesel Clean 3 as instructed. My car now runs as smooth as new though i didn't drive any brand new car yet. I can feel the difference. yesterday i drove it to 150miles (round trip) in motor ways without having Engine light on. previously whenever i used to go to motorway and drive the car in high speed, the engine light used to come on without fail and give me fault code P0238. I am happy now though vibration and other fault code P1351 are still exist. I got top right engine mount replaced. it doesn't help so must be Flywheel needs replacing. Quote
paul.h Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 If the P0238 code comes back you could try cleaning the egr valve. In this topic it seemed to cure it http://www.citroenpicasso.org.uk/picasso/index.php/topic/22082-fault-codes-p0238-and-p1351-16-hdi/page-2 Quote
arak81 Posted July 6, 2016 Author Posted July 6, 2016 Errrhgg...P0238 fault code is back again.. I will get glow plug replaced tomorrow and will ask the mechanic to get the EGR Valve checked out. by the way, my car's vibration has increased a lot especially the left passengers and rear both doors, when fully open they literally shake. Do you think lower back and lower left engine mounts need attention. I open the bonnet after driving 150miles today and found a small piece of rectangular rubber (See the pic underneath) somewhere in engine. i think it came out of something because of heavy vibration. could anyone tell me where might it has come from? Thank you. Quote
coastline taxis Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 Your just throwing money away here. If the garage cant use the diagnostic machine properly to find the fault then go elswhere m8 Quote
arak81 Posted July 10, 2016 Author Posted July 10, 2016 Hi coastline taxis, Mechanic is using Diagnostic tool properly and it brings up the code P1351 and if I go to motorway I get engine light on with related fault code P0238.as you guys know that recently I have used wyn's diesel turbo cleaner, now my car runs very smoothly..thought fault code P0238 won't come back again but alas it came back.I got glow plugs replaced with aftermarket product and got the turbo solenoid pressure valvle checked out and cleaned. mechanic said turbo pressure valve was fine.Glow plugs related fault code P1351 has come back too. by the way, one of the original glow plugs were badly broken. you can see the picture in my other post. well, once we changed the glow plugs I thought fault code P1351 has been sorted..mechanic said may be after market glow plugs were not compatible or one of them was faulty. For the vubration, mechanic keep saying Flywheel needs replacing..can anyone tell me where can I find the original part number of flywheel and clutch kit? do I need to replace all of them or just flywheel or clutch kit replacing may sort this vibration problem out. arak81 Posted July 27, 2016 Author Posted July 27, 2016 If the P0238 code comes back you could try cleaning the egr valve. In this topic it seemed to cure it http://www.citroenpicasso.org.uk/picasso/index.php/topic/22082-fault-codes-p0238-and-p1351-16-hdi/page-2 Hi Paul.h As my fault code P0238 came back and you suggested to clean up EGR Valve (if fault code P0238 comes back) by following that link, i got it done today by a mechanic. the EGR Valve seemed quite clean though..not burnt no dirty inside. Now i will see if the fault code comes back again or no...but the reason I am seeking help now is..when mechanic was working with EGR he found that one of the glow plugs were not properly fitted in the slot. you might have seen on of the broken glow plug's picture i have uploaded somewhere in this forum..so the broken tip remains inside, previous mechanic neither said me anything nor did he fit it properly, actually he broke it when he forced try to unscrew it and it is out of say to mention that fault code P1351 was still exist. Do you have any idea how can i have it removed now. I spoke with the mechanic and he said its very hard job and engine needs to be removed to take the broken tip out which might cost me £300 - £400. other thing is when they were fitting the Windscreen scuttle end of the job they broke the plastic locking clip (under the windscreen not with the scuttle one) which is why right side of the scuttle doesn't fit properly. Do you know the part name or number of this small piece of plastic clip? Thank you. Quote
paul.h Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 The glow plug tip if left inside the engine might have found its way out by now through the exhaust valves. If not though and if it is still in one piece, removal might need the cylinder head to be removed. I am not sure about the windscreen clip. If you look on the parts diagrams under Bodywork, Windscreen, Windshield and windscreen glass, they do not show any clips other than aluminium rivets (possibly part 697305) . You may need to visit a dealer to get the right part. Quote
arak81 Posted August 8, 2016 Author Posted August 8, 2016 The glow plug were successfully put inside..EGR Valve were taken out and cleaned thoroughly. but still error code P1351 appeared again and when i went to motor way with the other fault code P0238. so EGR removal and cleaning doesn't help to sort fault code p0238. the symptom of P0238 is..the engine light comes on and stays few ignition times and it goes away itself. it doesn't make the engine to lose power or anything. Anyway, i bought a solenoid valve to see if it solves the problem. but my intuition is, glow plugs are causing all these fault codes. cause there is nothing wrong with the car no power lose. Quote
