Nicholas221078 Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 (edited) Hi all.Im getting the depolution system faulty, only when I hit 3k revs in 3rd gear (strange). Now it's decided to have days where it will start then the revs die off.Once I have a fiddle at the fuel filter using the priming Bulb and opening the bleed nipple (air comes out) it will eventually start and is fine for the rest of the day. Also when I pressurise using the priming bulb it forces diesel out of the seam on the filter housing (see pics) should it do this? Could this be an issue stopping it to start.Once I get it started it runs fine,a little rough but fine. But guarantee tomorrow morning it will be a non starter for my missus . Many thanks Edited October 3, 2016 by Nicholas221078 Quote
coastline taxis Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 No its not right. it should be sealed as a general rule if youve got diesel comming out then you have air getting in. 1st replace the diesel filter and make sure you remove and replace the big sealing ring and that the filter top is screwed down correctly. if that does not cure the leak then its a new filter housing needed Quote
Nicholas221078 Posted October 5, 2016 Author Posted October 5, 2016 Thanks for the reply.I changed the filter and seal last night.no more leak.Took a little bit to start but I suppose thats expected changing the filter and draining the bowl. I did refill the bowl with fresh diesel then refitted the filter etc and let it soak.Just gone to it now this morning and it fired straight up.Fingers crossed that's it sorted .Could that have been throwing the anti pollution fault up too? Cheers Quote
paul.h Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Could be the anti pollution fault since it may have affected the fuel pressure. If it comes back though you need a code reader to read the fault code that is stored - these are kept until deleted so the previous codes will still be there if you want to check the fault. Quote
Nicholas221078 Posted October 5, 2016 Author Posted October 5, 2016 Cheers guys. Many thanks. Ill test it over the next few days as I could make it happen hitting over 3k in 3rd gear.it's the only time it does it.If it does I just need to fund someone with lexia.Cheers Quote
paul.h Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 No need to use a Lexia to read an anti pollution fault code, any code reader should do it and to buy one is less than the cost of paying somebody. As an example this one from Gendan for £38.95 also does some live engine data that is useful http://www.gendan.co.uk/product_FXNT200.html Quote
Nicholas221078 Posted October 5, 2016 Author Posted October 5, 2016 Thanks for the link,I think I'll take the punt and buy one. The price range is perfect for me.Is there any others that are better for a similar price?I'm not dismissing this one I'm just curious. Many thanks again Quote
Rookie2 Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Hi BuddyIf you are in a hurry and dont want to splash out and you only want to know the codes present, try this....... http://codes.rennacs.com/Manual-info.php Have fun but don't get the wrong pins cheers steve Quote
paul.h Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 The link does not seem to give enough info but I would be a bit reluctant to try a wire across the diagnostic connector - if you got the wrong pins it may possibly damage the ecu. Quote
Nicholas221078 Posted October 6, 2016 Author Posted October 6, 2016 Yeah I'd end up putting the wire somewhere it's not meant to go. But cheers for the link someone else might be brave enough to try it. Quote
Nicholas221078 Posted November 30, 2016 Author Posted November 30, 2016 Just letting you all know it was the fuel filter and seal that was the problem. As let the code readers. I've read some won't read abs faults /wheel sensors etc or reset codes. My brother and I are gonna chip in together (he has a 2006 320d )What is cheap enough but will let us read all faults including speed sensors/abs( and tell us which wheel is at fault) and clear codes that suit us both Quote
paul.h Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 I would try a company such as Gendan to see what they can offer to do Citroen as well as BMW. Quote
