Hi guys, my beloved C5 needs a clutch and flywheel soon and I was just wondering if the clutch and flywheel have to be the same brand?

I can get a Valeo clutch kit and slave cylinder. But I am struggling to find a Valeo flywheel. All I can find on parts stores websites is a LUK flywheel.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

The Citroen parts diagrams for the 2.0 hdi mark 1 or mark 2 (2004 to 2008 model) C5 list the clutch as a LUK, with other engines using a Valeo one. The flywheel make is not given. The mark 2 C5 LUK clutch is also noted as having automatic play adjustment that needs a special tool to set it up.

coastline taxis will have more info when he is back on.

Looking in your previous topics it is not clear if your car is a 2004 to 2008 C5 or a 2008 on C5 which may affect any replies. We only seem to have it is a 2008 2.0 hdi 136 bhp model.

If it's 2004 - 2008 (Facelift) isn't it fitted with a DMF (Flywheel and integral clutch)?

your right mike thats why im asking for the engine code.  if its RHR then its a 6speed  box with a dual mass in it. there a really heavy box to do and weve found thats its easier to replace the dual mass with a solid flywheel (4 in 1 clutch)

Hi guys, thanks for the replies. My C5 is on a 57 reg(Jan 08) it is a facelift and does have a DMF. I have read up on converting to a solid and spoke to many garages about it, but I am going to stick with a dual mass. My engine code is RHR and she has a self adjusting clutch. It is a 6 speed box.

Hi there - I've had the Valeo solid (non-DMF) conversion fitted and it seems much noisier (and vibrates more) at lowish revs than the DMF. Apart from that here's hoping!

I had been told if I converted I would experience what you have described, the DMF is designed to take the torque from the engine at low revs to make acceleration smoother and to prevent damage to the gearbox that the vibration and forces of the engine torque could cause.

It is why I am sticking with a dual mass.

The guarantee is probably only for the flywheel and not the rest of the car.

I understand what you're saying Paul but Valeo say they've fitted extra long springs to the clutch plate to absorb the torque so...

I guess I'll have to wait and hopefully not see.
