Hello all,

I have a Xsara Picasso that has some central locking gremlins. I understand they're common, but haven't found a situation quite like mine online.

You can lock all the doors just fine via either door lock, or via the button on the dash. However, the doors don't unlock via central locking. The door the key is put in will unlock, but nothing else happens. The button on the dash doesn't unlock the doors either.

The buttons on my keyfob have fallen off, so I can't try those!

Any advice much appreciated.

Cheers,

Laurence.

You can get another key fob case through ebay and put the insides and key blade from your existing one inside the new one.

I do not know what the cause of the problem is but you could check the wiring between the driver's door and body for any damage but since the locks work one way and the wiring used is the same as to lock the doors then it is possibly not the fault. The bsi controls the locks so you could try a bsi reset by disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it - there is a procedure here http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/15093-bsi-reset/

You could also try 2 turns of the key in the lock in case it is dead locking which will stop the dash button unlocking the doors. Failing anything it may need a trip to a dealer for a diagnostic. On our first C3 (2003) the first use of the key or fob would dead lock it and a second use would still leave it locked but not dead locked. Our other cars need 2 pushes of the fob button/use of th ekey to dead lock.
