Shane Peet Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 Hi All, last week we noticed a problem with one of the rear doors. It will not stay open what so ever, it just closes straight shut. Any ideas? Quote
paul.h Posted December 10, 2016 Posted December 10, 2016 Do you mean the door locks itself or if the door is open it will close itself, even if you physically hold it open by the handle ? Quote
Shane Peet Posted December 10, 2016 Author Posted December 10, 2016 The door itself, it's not catching to keep it open. Once you let go it closes. Quote
paul.h Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 Sounds like the door strap then in the door pillar to the door - it may be loose or broken or need greasing/wd40 to free it off or possibly replacing. Quote
Shane Peet Posted December 17, 2016 Author Posted December 17, 2016 It has been to the garage today for a check over and asked about the doors. The power steering fluid was low the other day and has now gone back up. Anyway, he said these doors don't have door straps. The spring and makanisum is broke. If we was to get a new one it would need spraying red, so it can stay broke! Quote
coastline taxis Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 your garage is talking rubbish. the strap that paul is onabout is a metal door stay and are not colour coded to any car other than top end roller,s Bentley,s etc. and it is a 20 min job to replace them Quote

It is a mechanism contained within the top door hinge. Quote
