Rookie2 Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 Sorry buddy, just noticed this post. the answer to your question, in my opinion, would be YES. If you can afford to then it would be a very wise move. The contamination of the Turbo oil supply is a gradual thing which increases with the amount of crud built up. Quote
jean claude van driver Posted January 7, 2017 Author Posted January 7, 2017 Cheers. doing belts etc this week. will get parts ordered ready for following week. parts going to be cheaper than an engine. how easy a job I don't know. Quote
jean claude van driver Posted January 8, 2017 Author Posted January 8, 2017 Been reading up on banjo bolt filter in turbo oil feed pipe. it implies filter should be removed and discarded. is this correct or am I mis reading. Quote
paul.h Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 It is in Citroen's procedures to remove the filter with a screwdriver and not put it back. Makes you wonder why it is there in the first place unless they are expecting bits of metal as the engine is run in, but then it ought to be a service item to remove it. Quote
jean claude van driver Posted January 8, 2017 Author Posted January 8, 2017 Cheers. is there a common place for oil leaks. it hasn't used any, previous owner said it left small drips on his drive. doesn't on mine but has a light misting of oil under the bonnet. although could be previous owner sprayed with summat to make engine look pretty. sorry to keep bombarding with questions. paul.h Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 We've had 3 C4s with the 1.6 hdi and only the 2008 one leaked oil. It was from the casing seal around the doser valve above the alternator and needed a new doser valve to sort it and stop oil getting on to the alternator. In your case if it is leaking oil you should be able to find it but some odd ones on our petrol C3 - it leaked oil from a drive shaft/differential seal, the timing chain tensioner (a batch of engines did not have them tightened enough), some wiring to the oil pump solenoid where it entered the engine block. coastline taxis Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 very wise decision. i would also remove the sump and vacum pump and give them both a good clean Quote
jean claude van driver Posted January 9, 2017 Author Posted January 9, 2017 Cheers will do that, well the lazy way. new one (pierburg) £102. Quote
jean claude van driver Posted January 10, 2017 Author Posted January 10, 2017 Oil pump, pick up, oil feed pipe, banjo bolts and a new oil cooler arrived today. new vacuum pump ordered. anything else. oh already have new genuine egr. Quote
coastline taxis Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 what we do once we have the sump off is remove the rocker cover and squirt loads of brake cleaner on the camshaft and just let it run down. youd be suprised at how much jellird oil comes out the bottom. Your doing the job the right way and the engine will last you a long time Quote
jean claude van driver Posted January 10, 2017 Author Posted January 10, 2017 Thank you for that. will do the same. should I squirt some oil through after and before refitting the sump. Quote
