Brett_Eichbauer Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 good day all , i'm new to the forum and am desperately seeking advise, my Citroen C3 1.4HDI has not run in 3 years , the injectors will not pulse, i purchased a key set in the hope that this would resolve the problem I have a Lexia and the only permanent fault is with the ECU "Status of ECU" ECU locked , ECU Matched ,awaiting response from BSI I don't have the customer code of the BSI-ECU set would this be needed to get the ecu unlocked many thanks in advance any help would be much appreciated Quote
paul.h Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 Welcome to the forum. I can not help much, did you have the same problem with the old ecu/keys ? If you intend to keep the replacement ecu you will also need the radio to match the ecu or the means to unlock your existing one so it will work properly. To check the injectors you will probably need to look at live data when trying to start the car once you overcome the immobiliser problem, maybe the fuel pressure is too low which could be something like a blocked fuel filter. Other possibilites could include an engine sensor fault such as the crank shaft sensor. Quote
Brett_Eichbauer Posted January 9, 2017 Author Posted January 9, 2017 thank you so much for your help and input Paul, i think i must first get hold of the PIN and move on from there,my actual data : fuel pressure measured: 259 bar , crank speed 160 rpmI know i had problems with my original BSI because the head lights would not work and my ECU kept the cooling fan permanently on.i inspected the engine wiring loom for damageany ideas what the easiest way is to get the PIN code?i will post updates as to my findings. paul.h Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 Fuel pressure is probably ok and since you have the rpm then I suspect the crank shaft sensor is also ok although the rpm may be a bit low for starting.I do not know anything about the PIN code, you may need to use a dealer for this but this topic may be relevant http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/24316-lexia-code-to-activate-relay/ . coastline taxis Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 once a bsi/ecu/keys are married to each other they can not no matter what be divorced from each other ever. so if you didnt get the bsi from the donor car when you swapped the ecu over then thats your problem. You can however get a new (virgin) bsi unit and reprogram it to the car. the codes needed for this can be obtained from the dealers. But to be honest unless you do this everyday then id let the dealer do it as theres a lot to set up. Quote
Rookie2 Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 Just a quick tip about this for future reference. If you look on ebay you will see a tool for sale called an "MPPS V16". supplied with a drivers disk and is simple to use. Connect it to your laptop, connect to your cars diagnostic plug and download your ECU info to the laptop. Save it. (process takes about 4 minutes). There are 2 reasons for doing this. 1)... if your ecu info ever gets corrupted or damaged, you have a copy on hand to load back in...2)... if you ever need to alter your ecu info then you have a copy readily available to send to whoever is reprogramming the ecu for you via email. Brett_Eichbauer Posted January 10, 2017 Author Posted January 10, 2017 thank you all for your input ,im trusting the seller when he says it was a complete key set, the odd thing about this car is that the previous bsi and ecu showed similar symptoms, perhaps a trip to the dealership for a wiring loom integrity test might be simpler in the long run, sometimes feels the more i fiddle the worse it gets.cheers you guys are awesome. :) Quote
paul.h Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 Maybe you could check the wiring at the ecu, I vaguely recall C3s can get water from the washer bottle which can go up the wiring to the ecu - hard to believe but it has been reported a few times. Quote
