I have had the C4 Picasso 1.6 petrol for about 18 months now . Of late there is alarm that says anti pollution system is faulty . After a while the car becomes sluggish , I have had it reset several times and after last servicing it gave me about 2 months and we are back to the same.

What is the way out ?

Thanks don't know that since the repair folks did kit share these with me at that time. I will take care to workshop to reset the computer and ask.

The workshop figured that problem could be with fuel quality. Since then I have varied the place from where I buy. Yesterday I topped up with shell super grade drive x petrol and somehow it did not resolved the problem.

Is there some kind of filter that is within the catalytic converter that is affected ?

Hi random bloke

Sorry for typos

The workshop did not give me codes at the time they ran diagnostics . I will try to ask them tomorrow .

I can tell you that a friend of mine who runs an MOT centre recommends that  Cat failures during MOT put a bottle of "Forte" into the fuel tank and go fo a high rev ride for about 20 miles.

He has never had a car fail on emissions after having used "Forte".

It's available at spares shops for about 14.00 and on ebay for abot 9.00.

If you are having to pay for the code resetting then it will be cheaper to buy your own code reader and if you get one that does some live data it will help you when checking for faults. If the code is for the exhaust lambda sensors or catalyst, then looking at live data the inlet lambda sensor should be constantly switching around one and the outlet lambda sensor should be constant - if this one is switching then the cat probably needs replacing. It does not say much for the garage if they do not have an idea what the fault is, you may be better using a Citroen dealer.

An example of a code reader with live data https://www.gendan.co.uk/product_FXNT200.html

The cause of the fault could be anything including spark plugs, ignition cassette, cat, cam sensor, etc. Even a faulty battery (low voltage) can sometimes cause problems.
