Gazh Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 Hello Dear C5 drivers. My car is a 2008 2.0hdi exclusive saloon.my problem is the rear indicators do not work. I have checked the earth terminal on the rear light plug and it has a good earth.check the indicator wire at the plug and no voltage at all.the front indicators work as do the repeaters on each door mirror .Hazards work only on the front.Has anyone else had this problem .I realise from the Haynes manual that the feed for all the indicators comes from the BSI unit.I have been trying to remove the glove box so i can get a better look at the bsi unit and check for voltges there, but I have removed all the screws i can see in the haynes manual, but i am not sure if the 2002-2008 covers my car, there being no manual available for the later cars. As a result the glove box remains firmly in place. Any help appreciated. Gary Quote

Rookie2 Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 (edited) Just humour me on this please. Have you tried switching your headlights on and then indicating again ? check this out . http://service.citroen.com/dtt/IFD/AC/documents/en_GB/AIDE/2050/PDF/infodiag217.pdf Page 5 , last sentence applies. There are reports that sometimes if the comms unit has gone, the rear indicators may decide to work when the lights are on. Edited March 5, 2017 by Rookie2 Quote
paul.h Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 Did you try a new bulb or was it just the visual, flick test and the meter ? Looking at a wiring diagram in the RTA manual for the C5 (X7), the front indicators are supplied from the engine fuse box whereas the rear ones are from the bsi fuse box. The 2 rear indicators are supplied by separate wires from the bsi so it is unlikely to be a wiring problem nor an earth problem since the other rear lights work. The RTA manual is in French but can be worth getting and there is the Citroen service box manual/parts and wiring diagrams which is even better - it can be bought on 3 dvds through ebay.https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Books/Rta-B737-Citro%C3%ABn-C5-Hdi-Depuis-2008/2726873758http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/citroen-service-box-09-2012-workshop-service-manual-multilanguage-tis-epc-wds-/261925511694 there is a 2014 version but this shows you what it is like. Later versions than 2014 do not seem to be available so probably the dealers use an on-line only version. Quote
coastline taxis Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 do the rear indicators work when you use the key fob to lock the doors Quote
Gazh Posted March 8, 2017 Author Posted March 8, 2017 hello all and thanks for all the replies and sugesstions.spent a couple of hours on it this morning and noticed a leg has corroded and is missing on the left rear bulb holder ,that pin is for the earth back into the loom.i had pulled a load of fuses to check them under the dash, when i connected the rear light up again the left hand indicator rear started working.it has stopped since because I took the bulb out? replaced it and it doesn't work.I have arranged for the car to be looked at by G&S Auto Electritians in Chorley tommorow morning (Thursday) so fingers crossed and see if they can sort it.I think the problem is likley to be down to bad or no earthing and, when i pushed and pulled fuses i got a result ,so must suspect the contacts in the fuse box. I will let you know how i get on. again Thanks for all the replies. Gary Quote
Gazh Posted March 9, 2017 Author Posted March 9, 2017 Hay days folks, I collected my car from the auto electritians this afternoon, and what a joy it is to have everything (lights) working as they should. They had soldered wires from the earth plate on the bulb holder and connected it to the Earth wire in the loom, so re estableshing an earth.I had them fit a new battery as the old one was stuffed, however long the car had stood on the dealers forecourt ,people opening the car and turning the ignition on draining the battery , not surprised the battery was worn out. they had reset the computer, by that i take it they meant the bsi. all working now the car is ajoy to drive. best regards Gary Quote
