Kennylad Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 Morning all. I'm hoping someone can help me. I picked up a citroen C3 through Autoreisen in lanzarote airport. On the way to the hotel the TPMS alarm sounded. Luckily I was approaching a big petrol station so I popped in. All the pressures were correct (as the plate on the side door said) The alarm did not go off I have just filled it up and checked the pressures and they have not changed A hotel guy translated the alarm and it says check the pressures and reset. So my question is How do I reset. I have had a look at the tyres and it looks like the front ones have recently been replaced. Thanks for any help Ken Quote
Rookie2 Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 Should be a similar procedure to this...................... Quote

paul.h Posted March 19, 2017 Posted March 19, 2017 Different Citroen cars may be different, on our C4 after the tpms alarmed due to a nail in a tyre, the alarm cleared after the repair only once the car was driven. It did not clear just by putting the wheel back and the pressure being correct and did not need any calibration. The language on the car can be changed through the radio menu so no need to use a translator. Quote
Routemaster1 Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 The reason that nothing has come up is that the car detects a low pressure tyre by measuring the rate of rotation, and if a tyre is getting flat it will rotate faster. The system picks this up. This means that it will not detect a flat tyre until you have driven the car, and similarly if you mend a puncture after a warning, the system will not know that it has been mended until you have driven. paul.h Posted April 16, 2017 Posted April 16, 2017 On our C4 the low pressure warning was given before the car was moved. Quote
Routemaster1 Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 (edited) On our C4 the low pressure warning was given before the car was moved. There are two types of detection system. The one I described is the passive system, which is relatively cheap to install, and is, as far as I know, a compulsory fitment on new cars. Older cars, including the C4 and C4Picasso, had an active system based on individual pressure monitors in each wheel which transmitted to sensors. This type will give a warning before moving. It has the disadvantage that the wheel were effectively 'fixed' in position and there were problems with the valve stems corroding. Edited April 17, 2017 by Routemaster1 Quote
