Hi Buddy

If you are getting a  "Bong" when you connect the battery then I suspect you have something switched on or a door open etc. If you can, try putting the battery in with the drivers door closed, I know it's a bit cramped that way but it might just make the difference. My C8 connects without the Bong even with the drivers door open but yours may be different.

First, ensure that your battery is fully charged. Below are procedures to Initialize the Citroen BSI (Body Control Module) and Automatic Transmission for Citroen C8:

On the Citroen C8 and Peugeot 807 the battery can be dis-connected and reconnected through the driver’s window (with the floor removed). For other cars, if the battery is under the bonnet, open the bonnet first and leave it up, the car must be in “Unlock†status.

Procedure to Initialize the Citroen BSI (body control units) every time the battery is disconnected and reconnected.

This operation should be performed through the driver's window.
1. Ensure no diagnostics tool is connected and uncover the battery compartment.
2. Put the driver's window down and ensure all lights and equipment are switched off.
3. Ensure all doors are closed, remove key from the ignition and wait for 3 minutes.
4. Disconnect the vehicle battery and wait 15 seconds.
5. Reconnect the "Fully Charged" vehicle battery and wait a further 10 seconds (do not open doors).
6. Switch on the side lights through the driver's window (you will hear a "bong").
7. Switch on the ignition and allow system's functionality check.
8. Hold lock button (while in ignition) on key down for 10 seconds.
9. Remove key open & close door test central locking system (middle button on top of rear view mirror).
10. Start the engine and complete the system's check (can be performed from inside or outside the car).

NOTE: Upon re-connection (soft re-boot), if any vehicle function controlled by the BSi i.e . interior light is switched on, the internal operation of the BSi has the potential to spike or corrupt its configuration and software program......

If some or all Windows do not auto open or close, press the window lever for more than one second with ignition on (some times more than once).

Procedure to Reset AL4 Automatic gearbox

Resetting the Gear Box can save some RM and can be done when required. This is by performing paddle learning. It is a way to teach the engine to shift up at lower RPM under normal driving style. The Gear Box can be taught to shift gear at around 2.5K or even lower. It depend in many condition. Under normal practice this is how we can do it.

1st step

Find a flat road more than 3km so that there is enough stretch to teach the gear box. The lesser the traffic and the longer the road the better.

2nd step.

Stop the car by the road side. Switch off the engine and all devices/switches/controls that consume electricity, for at least 10 seconds.

3rd step

Switch on the ignition (engine off) and step on the accelerator for also at least 10 second. Do nothing else.

4th step

Leaving ignition 'ON" release accelerator and step on the brake. While doing this move the gear shifting between P, R, N D, 1,2,3,4,3,2,1, and back to P. pausing momentarily between shifts. Keep repeating this for at least 20 second.

5th step

Step on the accelerator for at least 20 second then release. Do nothing else.

6th step

With the gear at the P level,

1- Start the engine and drive the car gently/progressively. Don't rush (If you drive it right 2nd gear will engage between 1.8-2k rpm)
2- Keep on moving and watch the RPM, You can stick to 2.5K RPM, The gear will shift up to 3 and 4 at 2.5k although it will take longer time to shift.
3- Just keep on driving for about 10km for the GB to learn the new shifting pattern. When slowing down ,speed up gently so that it will still shift up at around 2.5K.

If everything is right, you will see gear shift pattern always below 3K and 60km/h cruising at around 1.5k rpm in top gear.
Note: Road condition will affect the ***oops*** pattern. It is normal to rise above 3K rpm when climbing hill or accelerating speedily.
(Changing to tiptronic will NOT disturb the shifting pattern thereafter)

Do this every time the car is serviced as the diagnostics computer will reset the shifting pattern

It is possible to fool the car in to thinking a door is closed by having the door open and closing the lock/latch against a screwdriver rather than the post on the door pillar. The sensor that detects if a door is closed is built in to the lock - this can be tested by seeing if the door open message goes when the screwdriver is used or using the remote to lock the doors with the screwdriver first used to close the latch.

Make sure the gearbox is in neutral before doing anything through the windows, just in case the key is turned too much and the engine is turned over on the starter.
