andyhugill Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 I have just replaced my 53 citroen c5 with a mk3 58 c5. I've just changed the front lower wishbones due to worn bushes and now the front suspension is stuck at it's lowest setting while the rear is working fine. Any ideas please as it's stuck on the drive at the moment since the front clearance will not let me off. Thanks in advance Quote
Randombloke Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Connection from front height sensor via linkage to front anti roll bar damaged, broken, stuck or knocked which has led to the height not adjusting? Did you take the car up to the top of the suspension travel before working on it or did you jack it up from the normal position? If you can get to the linkage without endangering yourself, you might give it a squirt of WD40 to free it up. Forum regulars will be along soon with the usual welcome and better advice very soon. andyhugill Posted May 2, 2017 Author Posted May 2, 2017 Thanks, that would seem to be the problem. I took this off to replace the suspension arm and was a pig to get back on again with limited access i think i must have dislodged something or the link has come off. I'll have another look later. Thanks.....Andrew Quote
paul.h Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 Welcome to the forum. Hopefully the above checks will find the problem. You could also check the lds fluid level but I doubt this is the problem. Do not unfasten and change the position of the height sensor since to set it needs a diagnostic to get the height right. You probably already know this, but do not go under the car without it being on axle stands (or ramp). If the suspension height adjuster is caught (or purposely touched) the suspension can quickly drop to a very low level, quicker than you can get out of the way. On the 2008 on C5 if the front wheels are jacked up and left hanging, the lds fluid tank cap should first be slackened off and left until the car is back on the ground to avoid the risk of the tank splitting. Before jacking up, the suspension should always be raised to the max height (and the key removed) to avoid possible problems with the suspension. Quote
