Steve82 Posted May 10, 2017 Posted May 10, 2017 Hi all... hoping someone can help me out with a couple of problems. A friend of mine went out last week to buy a new Jag but came back with a C5, lovely car but as with most second hand cars it has a few gremlins. I gave it the once over this weekend for him and found three codes on the ecu... P0243 - Turbo wastegate solenoid AP0490 - Exhaust gas recirculation control circuit A highP0238- Turbo sensor A high circuit I've a bit of working knowledge with egr valves but I've never worked on a Citroen, has anyone any advise on what will have brought the codes up? I've reset all the codes but all three came back up within 20 miles. Also the parking sensors are not working, a message flashes up on the dash 'Parking Assistance System Faulty'. Any help or advise would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks Steve Quote
Randombloke Posted May 10, 2017 Posted May 10, 2017 P0490 - Exhaust gas recirculation control circuit A high I've a bit of working knowledge with egr valves but I've never worked on a Citroen, has anyone any advise on what will have brought the codes up? Is the EGR connected and not blanked off? When EGR valves are changed, they need to be coded into the car. Reversing sensors not working is probably a dead or damaged transducer. When I last suffered this, I had a diagnostic technician check the car out with a top level Snap On diagnostic tool. The tool told me which sensor was dead, I bought the replacement from eBay, about £12. Quote
Steve82 Posted May 10, 2017 Author Posted May 10, 2017 Hi mate, it's a 2005 model. The egr is as standard, it's not been blanked off. Quote
paul.h Posted May 10, 2017 Posted May 10, 2017 Which engine does it have ? Have a look in the C5 tecnical section Common Problems pinned topic. Something to start checking are all the small diameter rubber hoses for splits, especially at the connections on the various sensors/actuators - do this before thinking about replacing the egr valve or anything to do with the turbo. Steve82 Posted May 12, 2017 Author Posted May 12, 2017 Thanks for the feedback, it's the 2.0L diesel. I'll start off having a good look at the hoses and see if I can see any splits. Quote
