Hi

New member here, hello everyone.

Just retro fitted folding mirrors to my c3 vtr.

Everything works, heated mirror, mirror adjust but can't get the fold back bit sorted.

Anyone done this, and anyone got any ideas to help..

Thank you

It is extremely tricky to retro-fit items like this. The loom may be in place, but unless the BSI is aware of the equipment it is unlikely to work. It may be possible to change the settings via diagbox. In general I would say don't bother trying to retro-fit. If you really want a piece if equipment the only realistic way of getting it is to buy a car with it aleady fitted.

Hi

Fitted fold back mirrors, switch for fold back mirrors and activated them via lexia but the only bit that's not working is fold back.

Adjusters are ok, and so is heater function.

Welcome to the forum.

What year is the car ?

On the switch, the slide one that selects the mirror for any adjustments needs to be set in the middle position and if doing manually rather than just using the remote to lock the doors, it needs to be pulled back for the foldback to work. If you have done all this then maybe you will need to check for voltage at various points to trace where the problem occurs.

This is copied from your post in your similar topic on the C3 section which I have deleted so all replies are in one place:

Hi all,
I have a c3 1.6 16v vtr.
I have just changed my mirrors to heated and fold in.
Checked the mirrors work off the car , all ok.
Changed the mirror switch to the one with the bottom position for gold in.
I have programmed the fold in option in lexia but still not folding????.
The heated bit work, and the adjuster but works, but will not fold in manually or with remote.
Can anyone help with this ?
And has anyone else retro fitted these.
Think there must be a fuse missing, or relays not fitted, as all of the wiring seems the same as my wife's car which is an exclusive with folding mirrors.

Thanks in advance for any help you have

Hi

And thanks.

Have checked all the wires go to the right places as in Haynes manual.

Just looked a bit further in lexia, and I think there maybe a relay or two that are probably missing as the car didn't come with folding mirrors.

Might have to take the passenger fuse board apart and have a good look around.

I thought there would have been someone on here that has retro fitted these...

I did the cruise control retro and worked fine.

Thanks

What year is your car but I am guessing it is a pre 2009 model since you have mentioned the Haynes manual and there is not one for the 2009 on model.

Possibly you are the first to fit folding mirrors on this forum so we may all learn something from your experience. We had a 2003 C3 and now a 2010 and neither have folding mirrors and but I never thought about fitting them.

Hi

2006 model, the wife has 2009 exclusive, with folding mirrors that work.

Checked with lexia on both cars and all boxes ticked the same.

Will examin both passenger fuse boards tomorrow to see if I can find the problem.

It must be fuse or relay missing.

Will report back ......

Hi again

After examination, I found that there is wiring in the doors for adjusting and heated and folding mirrors.

But the 2 wires needed for the folding stop at the plug which is in the rubber door gromit.

So did not go any further.

I extended the 2 cables for each door and put them on a switch hidden in the cubby hole under the steering wheel.

Work perfect.

Did you have to provide a 12 volt supply and an earth to these wires ?

Did your original mirrors have heaters, if not did you need to do anything for it to work on the new mirrors ?
