1996 1.9Td Synergie Speedo And Wheel Bearing Issues

Hi all since having to scrap my 2.0 hdi back in April I've purchased an N reg 1.9td. Unfortunately despite the dealership it came from claiming that the previous owner had spent £1000's on it. And they had over 10 years of history for it nothing was produced. But even so with a bit of TLC this could be a nice car again always wanted the 1.9td again. But anyway it's got a few issues which I'm stuck with so hopefully you guys will come good as you normally do. The first issue is the speedo backing lights are an issue, I removed the cluster to change the bulbs when we purchased it. But unfortunately when i put the cluster back In the indicator lights were not working on the dash. Removed and 're fitted the connections a few times and got the indicators back, but I've obviously damaged the cluster as now the outside temp works but is dull. The temp gauge. Part works but is dark at night. The fuel gauge works but is dull and up to about 90mph on speedo is bright but rest is dark. I've checked the bulbs and all good. The problem is being the old style cluster with about 6/7 plugs that push over a green type circuit board. So far I can't find anyone to rebuild it. They all say they can't get parts. None available on eBay tried the online breaker options and so far no good. So hoping one of you guys might have an idea. Also I need to replace the o/s front wheel bearing. But when I had one done on my hdi last year the garage managed to bend the hub carrier. Since there is nothing about from synergie/806/ulysse would a hub from Citroen dispatch 1.9 or 2.0 his fit? Mine is the non abs version so will a version with abs fit? Apologies for the essay but just trying to get it right at the first attempt. Many thanks for all your help. On some cars the speedo lighting level can be adjusted so not as bright at night. Maybe there is a button on it that can be used (pressed/turned) to adjust the brightness. Some cars also have a dark button somewhere on the dash that turns off all the dash lighting except the speedo when the head lights are on.

 

For the swivel hub carrier, the Dispatch up to RPO 9792 1.9 td has the same part number 364734 but then changes. 9792 equates to a production date of 31/8/2003 so you would need to look for a van before that date. If the problem was the garage you used, then try a Citroen dealer who should have a press to push out the old bearing and push the new one in without damaging the hub carrier. A dealer may have a higher labour hourly rate but if it saves the cost of parts, especially if none are available, then overall the cost is less. Hi thanks for the swift reply. I've adjusted the dash light illumination as far as it will go and unfortunately its still bad.. I'm pretty sure it was myself who damaged the speedo. It's just getting a replacement thats the problem. Thanks for the reply regarding the hub. Much appreciated.

All the same car so any dash or hub of these will fit.  if u scroll down any page theres loads more for spares. but if youve got the space id go for this as a donor car to have at hand and will save u money in the long run.

Thanks for that unfortunately though the hub might be the same the dash isn't. I've still got the dash from the 51 reg Hdi I scrapped and it's different. The 51 reg is digital mileage where as the 96reg is analogue. And 51 reg has 2 plugs were as mine has 6 or 7 plugs. Just wondered if the wiring could be converted if need be. Thanks again.

You might be able to get your speedo repaired. A google search on speedometer repair companies comes up with a few so worth investigating.
