Welcome to the forum.

Possibly the exhaust dpf was being regenerated. See what happens next time you use the car and if it does not happen then it is nothing to be bothered about. Annoyingly the C4 does not have a temperature gauge but if you have a code reader that does live data it can be used to see what the engine temperature is. Once warmed up it will be about 90 to 96°C, any higher and the engine fan would cut in but if it is regenerating the temperature will be normal. The engine fan also runs when the air con is being used.
