terrwilk Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 Hi all, I have seen these claims of huge power and torque increases particularly with the common rail diesels. Has anyone fitted an aftermarket digital tuning box and had any good results? Basically you unplug the wiring loom to the injectors and slave in this box which adjusts the ECU paramters, some are adjustable!! Just wondered Terry :o Quote
iannez Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 heard good things like there almost as good as a remap but never had anything to do with them. Quote
C4VTS Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 I had one on my Audi A4, and the turbo blew a few months later.Could have just been a coincidence.? It certainly did boost the power, and when I put I put my foot down on the motorway nothing could keep up. Also there was an increase in smoke from the exhaust after fitting on heavy acceleration. It was only a cheapo TB from eBay for about £50. :o Quote
wozza Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 remap is usually a better bet as its more tailored for your engine similar price and no extra parts resulting in less to explain come warranty issues etc. As a tuning box can be related to clutch, flywheel, transmission etc. Even if it was wrong before on its own they can still choose not to pay out. But they can be fairly good. Personally i would choose a remap considering costs are not much different. Quote
c4owner Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 I had one on a Mercedes A Class Diesel and couldn't really tell it was any different - they claimed 25% increase in power but I was dissapointed Eventually sold the thing on ebay for £10 + postage So on the plus side for Tuning Box - you can sell them on (subject to finding a buyer who want's one with a car that it will fit) but you can't with engine mapping but I'm still going down the route of having my C4 mapped next week. robert217 Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Hi just bought a CRS TUNING BOX for a C5 1.6 HDI. can not find the plug to connect any help ftom guys .thanks Quote
Johndouglas Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 I don't know about the 1.6 engine but on the 2ltr model the plug is in the centre of the fuel rail - on the underside. It's a real 'B' to reach and before the plug can be removed a small clip needs to be lifted. Really needs two hands to remove the plug but there's hardly room for one hand in there. Quote
