T_D Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 I've recently purchased a Citroen C5 2.2 HDi 2001 for a low price (from auction). It sounded fine and looked fine so I bought it. We recently took the car for a service and had it checked out on their computer. However, their computer was not advanced enough to tell us exactly what the problems were/how to change them. We've been recommended to take the car to a dealer... but we also know how expensive this can be. The errors shows were: Fuel Additive tank empty (P1446)3rd Piston cut off solenoid (P1135)Fuel additive system malfunction (P1442)Turbo boost sensor (P0235) PRecirculation flow (P0402) ICircuit A (P0380) P Errors shown on dash are: Antipollution fault, ASP/ESR fault and diesel additive minimum. Though the garage erros are more important, I suppose! The code things are just what came up... I don't know if they are of any relevance (I doubt they are) but I've included them anyway. The car itself, when driven, has a distinct lack of power - especially up hills where it just doesn't pull very well at all. Could anyway tell me how much this would cost to have all the above changed... if they know? Even a rough estimate would do! Please Reply ASAP as we live on a very tight scheduele and it would help greatly. We've been thinking about selling it due to the costs of having it repaired (we bought it for £1650 and have already spent about £250 on it!) If you have no idea as to how much it would cost to have changed could you at least tell me how much it would cost to get a quote at a Citroen dealer? We never really take cars to dealers (our other cars are oldish and relatively simple). Thanks for any help in advance! Quote
Stuart js Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Hi there, sorry to say it may be alittle expensive this one...........Fuel additive / fuel additive system malfunction is proberbly that fact that your eloy fluid is empty, this stuff is about £50 to buy plus labour charge to fill - this is a special oil that the computer system adds to the car at controlled intervals to reduce emissions (Fords and Peugeots have the same). This oil should be topped up at about every 50,000 miles. If you are unlucky the particulate filter may need replacing, but then again it may not. Not sure but Turbo sensor boost, and the recirculation faults may be linked. The errors shows were: As for the other faults I am sure someone out there may be able to help. good luckStu. Antipollution fault, diesel additive minimum. = very important, expensive if not fixed soon.ASP/ESR fault could be worn brake pads / discs Quote
T_D Posted February 20, 2007 Author Posted February 20, 2007 OK, thanks for the reply!! The diesel additive thing doesn't sound too expensive really... though I suppose labour costs may pile on to that quite heavily. We would be willing to spend just around £500... not much more than that. If anyone could give an estimate (or even advise me on what the others are) I would be most grateful! Quote
paul.h Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Have a look on this forum on particulate filter or anti pollution fault, there are a few notes. Costs seem to vary, looks as if the eolys oil is filled up, particulate filter in the exhaust is replaced by a regenerated one and then the car computer needs a reset. Values around £700 are quoted. It is a dealer only job as well. Sorting this may solve the other problems. Quote
T_D Posted February 22, 2007 Author Posted February 22, 2007 Just an update. We took the car to a Citroen dealer, where they plugged it into one of their computers, and we were told that the total cost of repairing the car (including VAT) is just over £400, which we're very pleased with, considering the price we bought it for! iannez Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 if they can fix all that for £400 not only have you got yourself a bargain you have also found a garage that sounds like its run by Carlsberg. the particle filter is only made to last as long as a full tank of eloys. it not a time or milage thing. its just as the eloys passes through it it clogs it up so if a full tank of eloys has past through it it will be about knackard. hope all goes well m8. My filter is 109,000 old (the original) fluid was topped up at 50,000and again at 100,00 I expect that the filter should get to 150,00 then need a 'wash' or replacing, non Citroen about £250. I think they go wrong if the cars are low mileage or town cars, I bought mine with 92,000, 18 months old - very high mileage.Stu Quote

PaulCartwright Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 the thing to try is drive at a constant 40 MPH for 5/10 minutes not more no less (have the cruse on) to clear the anti polution fault if your in or can get to the cannock area mate give us an email cartwright@chasetown.staffs.sch.uk and i will put my snap-on on it for you mate as for lack of power is the car noisy? has an old old diesel knock on it? if it does before you go any further replace the silver (cannot remember the propper name for them) cam followers £8 each from the devil (citroen main dealer) as they break and then its good bye car! that could be your lack of power mine went at 33'000 3 years old and its still sitting on my drive now the HDI engine isnt as good as the 1.9 TD i have the berlingo 1865 diesel 79 to the gallon runing on bio-diesel 60 round the town unlike the same hdi 38 on a run and 28 round the town.
