Guest Robbie Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 I've read a few threads about likes and dislikes of automatic wipers but can't find anything on actually turning them off and making them manual on a C5 VTR, does anyone know if and how this is done. needless to say i don't like them. Thanks for any help, Robbie. paul.h Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 On mine (2004 mark 1 VTR) the automatic is the first position on the wiper stalk, other positions are off, slow and fast speeds. Quote
72dudes Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 Agreed, on my 2001 2.2 HDi SX, you have to activate them each time you start off by moving the stalk back to "off" or "normal speed" first, otherwise they don't come on when it rains. Maybe Robbie has a Mark II and they're different? Quote

Maybe Robbie has a Mark II and they're different? Hi, I have a 2004 C5 VTR 2.0 hdi old style grill, I guess thats mark 1. When I move the stalk to intermitent it just comes on as auto wiper and wipes the screen when it feels its needed. I want to choose when they need wiping, but can't find a way of turning them off. Thanks, Robbie. Quote
citroeneddie Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 Robbie I have a Mark II and you can't choose just intermittent without choosing automatic unless you do it manually. Quote
72dudes Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 Robbie, I guess you just have to bypass the intermittent position then, leave them off or select normal and fast speeds yourself - it seems as if you can't turn off the rain sensor (unlike the auto lights)! Quote
Randombloke Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 This is indeed correct, there is no intermittent non automatic position, but that's how PSA cars have been for a while, as my sh*te old 406 (1996 vintage) has exactly the same set up. However despite advancing age the rain sensor still does the job very well. Worth check the sensor is not Donald Ducked? Quote
